  1. From another thread: Now some Caterham news Caterham info CSR(link is external) inspection guide(link is external) registration sheet Jonathan
  2. Very interesting. Have you posted about this before? Just to be sure: did you conclude that there was only ever a problem with the temperature readings, not with the actual temperature? Thanks Jonathan
  3. High resolution version of the "1981 onwards" wiring diagram from the 1985 Assembly Guide. Thanks, Andrew. Jonathan
  4. The recommendations in the Assembly Guide have changed from 75 Nm to 85 Nm (as you say). Discussions in the past had commented that 75 Nm seemed a bit low. I don't expect that there's much experimental evidence either way. Jonathan
  5. I remember British cars that had unfused headlamp circuits. And IIRC traditional ignition systems aren't always fused. How about sketching the connections to those two fuseholders with wire colour and "standard" use of that wire colour? Jonathan
  6. Please say if you're interested in alternative ways to mount a 'phone. Not surprisingly there are several! Jonathan
  7. I have 1988 and 1995 (and many later and lots of variations). The other useful tool is the "standard" British wiring colours, and I recommend this version. Jonathan
  8. "Also to add that different gauges have different levels of damping. The mechanical one might be very fast reacting as it were." Andrew Revill has observed that his mechanical OPG reacts very quickly. And IIRC that air in the pipe to the gauge affects damping. Jonathan
  9. That was my first question... Jonathan
  10. Thanks. I hadn't seen them mentioned for some time. Jonathan
  11. Compatibility with E10 fuel has been in the ASTM specs for several decades. (It's in the archives somewhere.) IMHO the problems are with rubbery bits that sneak into Sevens through unorthodox routes, and with the cars lasting so long. We should treat all of those bits as having a finite life. Jonathan
  12. Possible suppliers of the glass, including Tyneside. Jonathan
  13. Please let us know if you need to identify the wires by colour. Jonathan
  14. With the rear wheels off the ground I'd start by exploring what turns what with the engine OFF. Jonathan
  15. There's a well-described problem with the hazard light switch which affects both the hazard warning lights and the indicators, and it sounds like that. You can try and improve the contacts inside the switch or replace the switch. There's also an explanation which leads (!) to a circuit modification which prevents recurrence. Jonathan
  16. That's what I'd do. Except that it would be premixed. : - ) Jonathan
  17. Yes, that doesn't look like oil in coolant, which is typically an opaque emulsion. There is a chemical test for products of combustion in coolant if you have any other reason to suspect head gasket failure. Did you flush the system before the work in May? Did you use premixed coolant, and if not was the water particularly hard? Jonathan
  18. Thanks for the extra information. I don't have a good explanation. Mechanical OPG: Put a finger on where the pipe enters the gauge. Do you feel any movement when you declutch? Similarly watch the piping in the engine bay: any movement there? Rev counter: I can't connect that to the mechanical OPG. Do you have an additional shift light unit? Check connections: instrument earth, ECU connections including earth, engine earths. Jonathan
  19. Please could you add some photos of yours. (Let us know if you need help.) Jonathan
  20. Does the engine speed drop much? Electronic or mechanical oil pressure gauge? Hydraulic or cable clutch? Thanks Jonathan
  21. Sources of information on fasteners: The old text-heavy Assembly Guide sometimes has more information than the new IKEA-style version. I have these for any member who needs a copy.Bolt lists and fastener packs. The Power of BlatChat!Jonathan
  22. What gear do you think it is in? Cable or hydraulic clutch operation? Do you need assistance? Jonathan
  23. Removing scuttle. Fitting carbon dash. NB safety precautions for drilling or cutting carbon-fibre reinforced plastic. Jonathan
