  1. What SM25T says. It's possible that both are caused by one of those faults. But I don't know what the engine warning light is... Have you got a multimeter (:-)) and would you like a wiring diagram? Jonathan

  3. What model and dash... and what's that warning light? Is it the red non-charging indicator that's on before you start and then (usually) goes out? Jonathan
  4. As above, but use a GPS device to measure the road speed. Or count the turn ratio of a wheel and the prop shaft. But I'm not sure how that sort of LSD affects this method... Jonathan
  5. Thanks for posting about the heat shield. That will save others a lot of time. On Jim's point: do you know about the traditional solutions to topping up? From underneath with restricted access. From the cockpit through a purpose-made hole. From above through a non-standard cover plate with a filler and dipstick.I don't think anyone's described which of these are transferable to the Mazda box. Is there a filler plug somewhere?   8. Is a "modine" an oil-water heat exchanger? And there's no separate oil cooler? Does it have a thermostat or any other controls? Jonathan
  9. It is possible to test some types of lambda sensor in situ with an oscilloscope (or possibly a multimeter). We probably have someone who knows the details... otherwise I'll try and find them. Other than that temporary swaps have been offered by generous Members... Jonathan

  14. The key question for cruising is the engine speed at 70 mph. It's widely reported that the non-overdriven top in the 6 speed gearbox and commonly used final drive ratios are a problem for that. For the other factors it is worth using a calculator that will show all the engine speed drops. Jonathan

  17. I don' think there's much experience yet with that gearbox and I can't recall any special hints or tricks. Can you add a photo from underneath of the area around the gearbox mount? (I think it will be a case of wiggling for the best compromise.) Jonathan

  21. ... which of those who have posted really use their Seven throughout the winter? It never gets used enough regardless of season! But on motorways and similar on cold days it never gets warm enough. I'll probably just use a bit of blanking rather than a fancier blind*. Jonathan * Or, in my case, a double blind. ;-)
