  1. That URL doesn't work for me... Jonathan
  2. I'd photograph it and write to the manufacturer asking for a discount on a new one. But get it out now and wash it all down and scrub off any white crud. I'd use lots of tap water. Jonathan
  3. How old? Can you see where it's leaking? Any distortion of the case? Jonathan
  4. Stick a stethoscope (or stick) on the fuel pump to see if that's what's clicking. If it is then disconnect, inspect, clean and reconnect both ends of the feeds and earths to the fuel pump. Then tell us if that has made any difference. (Some people would run a temporary good feed to the fuel pump but I'd do it this way round.) Jonathan
  5. The SMMT publishes production statistics. Jonathan
  6. Where are the experts? I have no idea about the details of fitting this, but a few more principles: It needs a fuse, and the closer in the circuit to the battery the better. You can use its own inline fuse, or a spare way on the existing fuse box, or double up on one of the ways in the existing fuse box. You need snug grommets wherever you pass a wire through a panel. And well-anchored wiring throughout. There's some discussion in the archives about interference and ground loops with some intercoms. I'd have a think about any other wiring needed at the same time, such as accessory power for devices or charging the battery, USB for devices and high-level brake lights. Jonathan
  7. While we're waiting for the experts: Is there a fuse in that kit already? Do you want it to work with the ignition off? Do you have an isolator switch anywhere?Jonathan
  8. Was the clicking associated with trying to start or with the ignition alone? There should be at least one thick earth to the block but I'd try a few other things first. What's the ignition set-up? Any possibility of water eg in plug recesses? Any work done on it recently? What's the battery voltage at rest, during cranking and at 3,000rpm? Jonathan
  9. Good point. I thought I'd said that last night but obviously didn't. Check: Temperature at which it cuts in The air is being blown the right way.Jonathan
  10. When you say "overheating" is it showing hot on the gauge and overflowing into the expansion tank? I'd take the bit between my teeth and drill a hole through the thermostat. Have you got enough on how to do this? I'd also check the opening of the thermostat in a pan with a thermometer while it's out. Jonathan
  11. ... ask and they may give you some for free as they replace plenty with locking versions... That's clever. See also USB chargers and hotels. Jonathan
  12. Unperforated, but would be happy to drill one if I couldn't bleed it otherwise. As it happens my T-piece has also never been needed. Jonathan
  13. Didn't use any darts, just a bit of compromise. Jonathan
  14. I'd measure the battery voltage while cranking... Jonathan
  15. And saved mass! Must have been over 100g in there... :-) Jonathan
  16. You can get starters overhauled for less than the price of a new one, and lots of Members have been happy with that. Is it sticking now it's off the car? Have you checked the starter ring on the flywheel isn't damaged? Jonathan
  17. IIRC the last time it was discussed it was thought that the uncertainty about them remaining intact and in place outweighed (!) the saving in mass and rotational inertia. Yes: threads from 2011 and 2003. Jonathan
  18. We tried to get all that (for 7s) into one thread, or was that only for DRLs... I'll see if I can find it. Some of the recommended products or manufacturers might be transferable. Have you tried the big UK BMW forum? Jonathan
  19. Which colour bag, please, Stephen? Jonathan
  20. Olson make these to very high quality. Highly recommended. (But I've now got all the ones from them that I need.) Jonathan
  21. Can you add a photo? And please can someone add one for an orthodox wide track set-up. Jonathan PS: Now you've noticed it the answer's probably going to be to normalise it and take the opportunity to get it aligned: (b). PPS: I'd also think about talking to the vendor when I'd decided what to do.
  22. Thanks. Excellent. I keep thinking I've followed that, but then it goes again, which is weirdly analogous. More coffee needed. Jonathan
