  1. It will be fine. Jonathan
  2. This sort of thing? http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NDUwWDYwMA==/%24(KGrHqJ,!lwE6C8-G97lBOo!-+o00g~~60_57.JPG Jonathan
  3. The tacho pins are on the wiring diagram with their colours but it doesn't tell you their functions, which wire should I pick up on for the reb in put to the DL1? Which wiring diagram? And what are the colours? Jonathan
  4. It's come up a few times and I've seen recommendations for putting them between seat and runner (which seems natural to me). Spacers are also available, and there are some tricks to make the nuts and bolts easier to do up. Jonathan
  5. Is it the same as the type described here? That seems to say that you only need to connect "the black shielded wire". Jonathan
  6. Do you need more on the pinouts than in post #2? Jonathan
  7. As noted by Simon, there is a webpage somewhere (might have been Angus' or Myles') that described the distributor king lead interfering with the crank sensor signal and causing the misfire, if you run that ignition setup. DVA mentions it in this thread. Jonathan
  8. Please could you add what turned out to be the correct wiring for the alternator... terminal types, terminal identification and wire colours. It will save some time for someone somewhere... Thanks Jonathan
  9. Thanks. I thought you'd be able to explain that better than I could. Jonathan PS: 0.5 ohm on my cheap everyday Draper. But it had never occurred to me before that it doesn't have a manual adjustment for zero resistance. I think that I'd assumed that was somehow automated nowadays...
  10. Agreed. It's worth having a careful look at what's limiting travel and what you can gain this way. Jonathan
  11. The earths were all cleaned prior to installation and a series of probings with a multimeter suggest that things that should be earthed are. The resistance between the ECU earth pin on the ECU connector and the -ve terminal of the battery is 0.5 ohms. Any simple answers to what the maximum resistance should be, Andrew? Thanks Jonathan
  12. I think that 5.5mm is quite close to 7/32"... Jonathan
  13. Selecting a cylinder head for modification Jonathan
  14. Doh! I meant to say "lowered floor". What's your current ground clearance under the sump and under the seats? Jonathan
  15. Have you talked to Paul Deslandes? Pin outs. Jonathan
  16. Welcome. Do you have lowered seats, and if not have you had a look at them? What diameter is your steering wheel and would you like one that is smaller? Have a good look at the pedals and how they adjust. I think that you can usually safely adjust the column length a bit at the joint between the lower and upper columns, but it might depend on exact type. Can you add a photo of yours? Where are you... trying others' positions might reveal something. Jonathan
  17. You can do it either by uploading the image or linking to it on an external server. Which would you prefer? Ian B's excellent Forum User Guide. Jonathan
  18. Welcome, Dave. That's fine. Any more for any more? Jonathan
  19. Well done. Was the cable under tension? Jonathan
  20. What did the cheapest decent crimping tool cost, please? Was it in the A35 thread? Share one around... ? Jonathan
  21. Have you got an iOS device to compare that app with your dedicated meter, and possibly even both of them back-to-back the next time you're tested at a track? Thanks Jonathan
  22. Did you put in a new bulb or swap the existing bulbs side to side? And when you swap them side to side now what happens? Jonathan
  23. I'd swap the bulbs just to confirm that... Jonathan
  24. Agreed: both great. Jonathan PS: Did you see yesterday's documentary about Billingsgate? Do we need a BC TV Club?
  25. Heisenberg and Schrödinger are driving in a car when they get pulled over. The police officer asks "Do you know how fast you were going?" Heisenberg says "Well, not really but I can tell you exactly where I was." The officer thinks that this peculiar response is grounds for a search. He opens the trunk and finds a dead cat. He says "Do you guys know that there's a dead cat in your trunk?!" and Schrödinger says "Well, I do NOW." Jonathan
