... does anyone have any tips or advice on Taking a seven apart before I start? Label. Photograph. Don't trust your memory. Borrow a balance bar for the hoist. (Is there one in the loan register yet?) Jonathan
Presumably for that task you need two. If they fit snugly and you feel they've gone in deep enough then give it a go. Make sure you keep some inward pressure. Remember the PlusGas well in advance. Jonathan
There's an interesting engineering problem on tandems: how to set the tension on the chain that connects the two sets of pedals etc. On my Dawes tandems it's done with an eccentric bottom bracket. And a decapitated snug-fitting screwdriver is the perfect tool. As Ian says you can get much better engagement than with a peg spanner with typically short pegs. http://www.bike198.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/eccentric-bottom-bracket-300x225.jpg Jonathan
take it back,i thought if you touch it yourself, the warrantee is void.that goes for mainstream cars. It's not that absolute because you have rights beyond any warranty. But for something like this you'd be wise to talk to the supplier first. Jonathan
Well done. Worrying though.. as one wire has snapped.. whats to stop the others going? Is it worth me replacing them? Good thinking. I suppose it depends on the cause of the failure. Was the run of cable nice? How old are they? Can you add a photo? Does anyone know if there's a reported problem? Jonathan
If the known problem with the speedometer is a short higher up the feed than that (does anyone know?) you may need to disconnect somewhere else instead to see if that's the problem. Which fuse does it run off? Jonathan
Have you got a wiring diagram or do you want one? Interesting suggestion from Ian... you need to disconnect the feed as upstream as possible to test that. Jonathan PS: Do you have a multimeter to hand?
There are some experiences of this in the archives, both for cars and things like lighting and dehumidifiers in garages. Are you specifically thinking of using it on a 7? Jonathan
From those threads: Auto bulbs direct can help. I've got Twenty20 382 60 Amber bulbs for indicators and the 380 red for tail/brake lights and they are a massive improvement. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2PCS-Switchback-Amber-White-S25-1157-1210-Chip-120-SMD-LED-Turn-Signal-Light-/251609034412?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a95112eac Isn't that the sort of thing you were looking for? Sorry if I've missed the point. Jonathan
Some in these threads: 1, 2. Jonathan PS: Difficult, isn't it, with the combination of thread proliferation, problems with searching and the broken links? We need those multiauthor technical wikis.
What Ian says. PlusGas much better than WD-40. What make of shock absorber, what's the diameter of the rings and what's the distance round the outside between holes? Jonathan
I bought one last week. It was going to be a CTEK XS 0.8 but I was persuaded by BC to get an MXS 5.0 because: It can resurrect batteries as well as maintain them. It can manage larger batteries.Jonathan
Sorry, I'm not an expert on connectors and I don't know how they are sized. But mine are about 18 x 18mm measured across the maximum outside of the receiving half. Jonathan
