  1. That's what's commonly used on many K series, and I'm not aware of anything special for 1400s. Jonathan
  2. Well done. That's a common sentiment... would you have tried them earlier if it didn't require a 'phone call? Jonathan
  3. The heat process with nylon coating seriously alters their structure. That's surprising. Do you know what temperature the process uses? Jonathan PS: It appears that spring failures are more common than they were on ordinary cars.
  4. Agree about headlight bulbs. Knee pads in work trousers. On tools: Buying a multimeter and getting familiar with it. A smaller socket set. I was told this before my build and was amazed how much it helped. T-shaped plastic-handled hex keys. Haven't used them much on the 7 but on the bikes and other tasks they make a big difference,Jonathan PS: Has anyone already suggested joining the Club?
  5. I think that someone identified the vehicle this came from. If one doesn't turn up you might be able to buy it new. Jonathan
  6. Is that testing while it's in the bulb holder... and have you tried that circuit with an earth to the shell and touching a wire from the battery to the terminal? Jonathan
  7. The stop/tail bulbs I linked to DO NOT WORK - do not invest! Can we help with debugging? Jonathan
  8. Thanks. :-) Has anyone done a direct comparison of something based on silicones and something based on those things? Jonathan
  9. Is the Woodsilk polish based on silicones? Thanks Jonathan
  10. Charles, please: Can you remember the part number? Does it screw in the same hole? And what's your oil circuit set-up? Did you have to recalibrate/ change the gauge etc? Thanks Jonathan
  11. I had a quick look but couldn't find an answer. Ask James? Jonathan
  12. ... but I'd love to be able to fit a Danfoss or similar sensor to a K series and sidestep the present arrangement but avoid going mechanical. What are the issues, presumably thread type and depth and pressure-resistance relationship, and what do we already know about each of those? Jonathan
  13. Yes, it's on their English site... but I couldn't see how to order one directly from there. Jonathan PS: Is being screwed into a Sigma engine in a 7 "harsh environmental conditions"? :-)
  14. You can borrow most of those tools. Drive shaft nuts from Cateham Parts or Redline (I would think). Most people stick with standard discs. What do you use your 7 for? There's a lot more discussion around different pads... see the archives. Jonathan
  15. After that... it seems to be used in industrial systems. Jonathan
  16. Hmmm... a suggestion here that "the Powerlite and WOSP are essentially the same". Do we have enough accumulated experience to know if that transient problem with the Brise occurs with the others? Or are we going to wait until there's a suspicion and then apply the oscilloscope? Or move to presymptomatic diagnosis? Jonathan
  17. Which ones did you use... and can we have some photos, please? Thanks Jonathan
  18. Photo, please, Andy. Is it the type where the whole face of the switch rotates to show it's on? Morris Minor? http://www.classicvehicleandparts.co.uk/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/.pond/dscf0007mmindicator.jpg.w300h299.jpg Jonathan
