  1. When you replace the cable there's an adjustment trick for the angle of entry at the pedal box that minimises wear. I think there's a photo in the archives: let us know if you can't find it. Jonathan
  2. Don't have a 7 in front of me, but here goes: Green/Pink should be the switched feed to the screen. You need to find the other end of that wire from the one that goes to the switch, and then connect it to the Blue tail. (The switch should probably end up with a Black, a Green, and a Green/Pink. What does it now have?) That Black cable is probably the earth you need for the screen. Jonathan
  3. ... or short off cut of allen key in a ratchet ring spanner. Reminder from painful experience with an overfilled gearbox: make sure its the sort of ratchet spanner that you can reverse with a switch rather than the sort you have to turn over... Jonathan
  4. Yes, some plastic ones have cracked. There's a spec in the archives. Jonathan PS: Annual event, Ahmed? :-)
  5. It would be great to see a back-to-back comparison, but the cost and hassle are probably prohibitive for an individual. Might just be done by collaboration... Failing that, what improvements do they claim? Thanks Jonathan
  6. Any specific problems with the 7's brakes as it is? Previous discussion of that product in the archives. I don't think I've ever seen a back-to-back comparison of brake fluids. But I am convinced that new is better than old. Jonathan (Crossed with Delbert's)
  7. What's the voltage at the solenoid terminal that's connected to the starter switch when you press the starter switch? For diagnostic purposes I'd then run a cable* from that terminal directly to the battery. Could just touch it on but I'd probably use a switch. Does it crank? Jonathan * At least as thick as the one that's there currently.
  8. What year and dash? Send me a Private Mail with your email address if you'd like the wiring diagram with the fuse layout. Jonathan
  9. Pedal travel felt OK? Not spongy? No squealing? What's the car's history? Jonathan
  10. What SM25T says + what's the battery voltage at rest and when trying to crank? Jonathan
  11. Is the cable relatively easy to change? Even for me! :-) Jonathan
  12. I'm sure there are other causes, but start with checking for stiction in the pedal, the cable and the throttle. It might be easier to disconnect the cable ends to enable you to play with each separately and help localise it. There's a known problem with the throttle sticking due to overtightening of something or other. Recent discussion. Jonathan
  13. The redundant gauge plug has green, black and white/brown wires. Agree about Green and Black. Have you tried taking White/Brown to earth and to 12V and seeing what the light does? What sort of electrical oil pressure sender do you now have installed? Is it earthed through the body or terminal? What is its resistance (with the feed disconnected) when the engine is stopped and when running? Jonathan PS: Standard function of Green/ Brown is "Switch to reverse lamp"!
  14. Just replacing the parts in this instance. Have you talked to Redline? Jonathan
  15. What do you want to use it for? Are you hoping to improve braking performance or only replace parts because you have to? Jonathan PS: There's a vast amount on this in the archives.
  16. Recheck the wiring and connections to the alternator. You're going to need to know why the ignition light isn't coming on before you go any further. What sort of battery? And if it's the sort that you can top up have you checked the fluid level? What's the voltage across the battery with the ignition off and then on (!)? I wouldn't try to start it until that's fixed. But if you do what's the voltage across the battery while trying to start? Jonathan
  17. It goes to earth to energise the Fuel Pump "FP" relay. What does that mean, please? Are those voltage readings of 2.4V measured from the ECU with the wire connected to the relay or disconnected? Jonathan
  18. As above. Try a bit more jacking and Garthing, as planned. Check which way the fan is blowing, and if those haven't improved anything: Remove and test thermostat (or try another).Jonathan
