  1. Lots of discussion in the archives, but I can't find any of the helpful big lists, so I've resurrected this thread. That includes a link to the Bulk Buy for tool tubes and fitted bags.
  2. Thread resurrection because I can't now find any of those helpful big lists. The bits that surprised me were the cables, but I get the point. Tool tubes and fitted bags Bulk Buy. Jonathan
  3. "EU3" is a type of ECU. But I don't know which sensors or ECUs factory 1400s came with when. Jonathan
  4. I'd still like to be sure you've got enough voltage. Could also be a timing problem (including wrong connection of HT leads, but your history doesn't sound like that). At the fuel pump check you've got ≥12V across the terminals with the ignition on. Get someone else to come and listen to the pump or stick a hand on it and see if it's vibrating? You could check for fuel deficiency by giving it a squirt of ether and seeing if it fires. Presumably there's a way of disconnecting the fuel feed and seeing if it gushes out. But I don't know where to do that. Jonathan
  5. Sorry to hear that. Think of it as an opportunity to check the hoses? If it's in good nick otherwise and repair was less than half the price of a new tank I'd do that. What are you going to treat yourself to while you're sans 7 but not sans everything? Jonathan
  6. Fixable with washers? But do the two horns sound the same? And what would be the best interval... a seventh? Jonathan
  7. Do you know which type you want? Jonathan
  8. I've put a clip in place as per your photo but not tight just to let the hose have a bit of 'float'. If the failure is through external abrasion wouldn't it be better to do the clip up tight on the hose and add the float between the clamp and the fixed point? (As with exhausts.) Jonathan
  9. What's the current engine control system? Jonathan
  10. What sort of speedometer set-up and dash do you have at the moment? And do you have a wiring diagram? How many wires are there on the new instruments? Can you scan and post the bumf? Jonathan
  11. The wire mesh is to stop the fibreglass being burnt away too fast. Is that what happens? How hot is it in there? Thanks Jonathan
  12. Is the standard FIA roll bar the one with the single diagonal & the tall one with two diagonals or am I mixing up the trackday & FIA bars? I don't know. My 1998 bar with a single diagonal used to be described as "FIA" but that doesn't match the current photos. Jonathan
  13. Yes, using the one with just forum at the end, have just tried your suggestion of adding new, it works, only thing is that it just shows all new posts but not what section they are under. Right hand column of http://www.lotus7.club/forum/new should show the forum... Jonathan
  14. There's lots on which combinations work in the archives. Jonathan PS: I was interested in your description of the different bars. I think it's consistent with *Caterham Parts' but IIRC when I bought mine in 1998 the one with the single diagonal was described as "FIA". Did something change? * Wouldn't it be better if the "Out of Stock" sign didn't obscure the image?!
  15. Dit it ever work and has now stopped, or has it never worked? Jonathan
  16. What's the URL of what you call "the index"? http://www.lotus7.club/forum ? I never use that page. I use: http://www.lotus7.club/forum/new which has the dates and times. (I also keep the top pages for ChitChat and TechTalk open in separate tabs. And then open each thread of interest in a new tab so that I can find it after it automatically disappears from New and Updated.) I don't think it should behave the way it does, but with those workarounds it's usable. Could you have a look for that thread about styles of use: I don't think I convinced anyone. ;-) Jonathan
  17. What view are you using? (I use New and Updated across all forums. There's an interesting thread about different styles of use, maybe 6 months ago.) Jonathan
  18. I use an Eezibleed without fluid in the reservoir and a valved tube on the bleed nipple. Jonathan
  19. Do you have the correct email address registered? (Check with Shaun.) Did it ever work? Jonathan
  20. Your diagnostic strategy is still relying on there being enough oomph in that battery. What was the battery voltage while cranking after topping up and charging? Any chance of jumping it? That could save you a lot of time. Jonathan PS: Cleaning and inspecting all the relevant connections is a good idea. But if there isn't enough oomph at the battery there probably won't be anywhere else.
  21. I'd like to see at least 10.5V during cranking. It's probably best to concentrate on the firing problem and then get back to the condition of the battery. Firing: Can you get another battery or jump to another vehicle? If the latter do this with the engine running at 3,000rpm. Repeat the attempt to start: what's the minimum voltage seen during cranking and does it now fire? Jonathan PS: The surprising bit is that some 7s will crank happily while the battery voltage has dropped so low that the ECU or similar won't work. So our experiences from other cars can be misleading. PPS: Is it the sort of battery that you can top up? If so check the levels.
