  1. Who has never heard of the register? Any more offers? And Anthony has some questions... Jonathan
  2. There's one offered in the register of equipment for loan. Jonathan
  3. Updated links from Aeroscreen's post #11: All 16 mm mounting hole. Red 203-919 Blue 203-947 Green 203-925 http://media.rs-online.com/t_large/F0203925-01.jpg NB: Andy's discovery of how the factory warning lamp is wired! Jonathan
  4. Now where can I get cheap insurance for her without a black box to cramp my style? I've never seen one but I'd assumed that insurers' black boxes (or the contract) somehow discovered who was driving... is that not the case? Jonathan
  5. The problem is caused by the ECU fan switch on temperature being lower that the stat fully open temperature. It would be ok to up the fan switch on temperature, because the Duratec is designed to run at the higher temperature, but we can't because the ECU is locked, so the only option is to lower the stat temperature, which we can by fitting a part from Ford, Caterham Cars or Cosworths parts catalogs. Not quite the only option... you could add another sensor and control the fan from that. Or possibly use the temperature signal from the existing sensor to the ECU. Has anyone tested what's coming out of the two fan output connectors against temperature? Jonathan
  6. No I never got round to trying it. To be fair I rarely go out in the dark so decided not to bother. How about changing to LED lamps? And I'd be very interested in the voltage at low engine speed with various combinations of the fan, sidelights and headlights. Jonathan
  7. ... at idle the alternator doesn't really generate sufficent voltage to keep the battery topped up. Did you ever try a different pulley size? Jonathan
  8. At one point it cut out at ~60mph in 6th, the rev counter dropped to zero and it bump started itself after 2-3 seconds without any change. That indication was with the ignition on and the engine not declutched from the road... suggesting an electrical problem rather than a stopped engine? Any other instruments affected, and do you have an electronic speedometer? Jonathan
  9. That looks better. ;-) Are there any non-electrical issues which cause this problem? It doesn't sound like the classical story, and it isn't top of my list, but how about fuel starvation because of deficient tank breathing? That could even explain the unusual sound. But not the association with slow driving. Test by removing the filling cap the next time it happens and listening for a rush of air and observing whether the running improves. Jonathan
  10. Now if I could just work out how to post a picture I can show them side by side. Forum User Guide. Jonathan
  11. Do you want diodes that would work with the original incandescant lamp as well as the LED? I'd make it on the bench with connectors that make it easy to fit and revert... but I look forward to the photos! :-) Jonathan PS: "... feed... "... nearly missed that one.
  12. CC explained that I could use either lead as the wiring was intended for a hi/lo fan set-up. Yes, that's in some diagrams... is it used in any factory configurations? Jonathan
  13. Well done. Fascinating. It doesn't seem to have affected everyone who migrates to LED indicators, which might be due to differences in those resistances rather than the chosen flasher units. So we wil wait fo the new LED bulbs to arrive and see if there is success. The D stands for... diode. I don't think that an ordinary LED will work both ways with your current wiring. But you could rewire the indicator light circuit with an explicit earth and a diode in each side's shared connection to the other side of the lampholder... which is probably what that fix above does. Jonathan
  14. Ideally looking for a relatively constant low temperature, not a swinging hot one. What do you guys see as optimal here please? Good question. I think that's always been the problem in the discussion about cooling of hot Duratecs: what's the target? There's another that came up in the discussion of some mystery wires at the front: how many fans does each variant have, and how are they controlled? Jonathan
  15. Anyone have any experience here? https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=rain+experts+track+site:lotus7.club Jonathan
  16. Are you now or have you ever been widetracked? Discussed here. Jonathan
  17. That sounds like 3/8" but no idea about the thread. Fastener Pack 42, but I can't see an obvious match. And I don't think it's in Shaun's Bolt List. Gentle trial and error? And I use Bolt and Nut. Jonathan
  18. Ah... just looked for the previous discussions and the links are broken. But you could start here. Can you add a photo of your lampholder? Jonathan
  19. Please send me a Private Message with your email address. Jonathan
  20. Movie works OK for me: macOS, Safari, and a Dropbox account. Jonathan
  21. Yes, there are suitable LEDs that fit without problems. The type, and I think suitable replacement LEDs, are in the archives: let us know if you can't find them. Are you going to change all the dash lights? Jonathan
  22. ... I don't have dipped beams either. Forget swapping the outputs as a diagnostic test. Without disconnecting anything test the two switches and connections: Main light switch: Measure the voltage relative to a good earth at the feed and each of the outputs (side, head) with the switch in each of its three positions. If that's all OK ditto for the full/dipped switch, with headlights on at the main switch!Jonathan
