  1. Very interesting. And they seem to address one of the two current diagnostic gaps. DIY, but they seem pretty cheap anyway. 7. What does "noid" stand for? Abbreviation of "solenoid"? Otherwise... no idea? Jonathan (and I still have my No2ID t-shirt)
  2. How about emptying the browser caches ± history? Jonathan
  3. Edited: See the parts list and below! Jonathan
  4. Thanks for the explanation, Doug. Jonathan
  5. Have you tried logging out and in again? Test link Jonathan
  6. NB There are a lot of different products branded "Sikaflex". Jonathan
  7. Sounds great. Never been there but I've walked in Ordesa and up Monte Perdido just south of you. Lots of vultures? Jonathan
  8. ... I'm actually up a mountain down in the south of France! i'm jealous! Which one? Jonathan
  9. I've got a black ring bound assembly guide. It says for de dion chassis with rover k-series variants. It mentions VVC a few times but on no page ever says VHPD. It also mentions hydraulic clutch, so I think this is a later edition. Looks like it will cover the build though. Engine manuals...nope, is there something official I'm missing? Send me a Private Message with your email address and I'll forward you a copy of stuff that might be relevant. Jonathan
  10. Have you got all the Assembly Guides and engine manuals that you need? Jonathan
  11. ... and cut to the same length as original. Yes. I damaged the finish on a frame by not checking length. Jonathan
  12. I don't think that's going to cause any other electrical problems as long as the remnants don't short anywhere. Visual indication is needed for roadworthiness and checking it is in the MoT testing manual. But it might not be too hard to fix. Have you sketched the circuit and do you have a multimeter? Can you add a photo? Jonathan
  13. What TomB says. Gentle warming may also help removal. Jonathan
  14. The main plud has 3 spade connectors and the 3 wires according to the wiring diagram go to battery -ve, ignition warning light and fuse box. Is that a thin wire to battery -ve from a small terminal as well as the fat charging wire? Jonathan
  15. Still have the standard electrical (hopeless!) oil pressure guage which has always shown low oil pressure - red to 2 bar max. Is there a way/piece of kit to reliably test the oil pressure at the top end without resorting to the full mechanical guage conversion? If mine failed I'd fit a remote electronic sensor. Jonathan
  16. How true is it that 98 (or better) Octane doesn't have the unpleasant characteristics mentioned above? That's commercially available ordinary road petrol bought recently in the UK or France? Jonathan
  17. It might help to add to add the relevant fuel compositions (E10, E50, E85 etc) to that analysis. * Gates in the USA only make and sell fuel pipe of grade 30R9 or better (they even have brand-new super-grades). Gates in the UK distribute unmarked hose to motor factors that, if you are lucky, is only 30R6. Why don't we get the same? Are they dumping their surplus stock on the UK? I don't think that there's any reason to suspect malevolence or malpractice. And the lead times for introduction of new fuel compositions have been very long. ... But the main points are that problems are very rare with commercially available fuels except with old hoses and non-mainstream products. And that fuel hoses, seals etc should be treated as consumables for vehicles that survive as long as many 7s. Jonathan
  18. Petrol for road vehicles that's currently available in the UK is up to 10% ethanol. Anything that's sold new for use as a petrol hose should be OK. (IIRC the key date was 1988, but I can't find the recent thread.) Jonathan
  19. Thanks: please could you email that to Shaun? Jonathan
  20. ... and heading down the main straight at 130+ at castle coombe, whilst being a hairy experience, I can't say I noticed any lift. :-) and that's what I'd have guessed. But has anyone come up with a better nosecone that mounts the plate more neatly (and legally) and improves the aerodynamics? Jonathan
  21. The probablity of being stopped or prosecuted is clearly very low. But it's also worth thinking about how you would feel if you were. Re legality, I've been running with my stuck on nose cone front plate for around a year and have not yet been questioned by Mr Plod - keep the solid plate in the boot (sorry officer it fell off) just in case I've never understood this tactic for running with no front plate, and even less so for stick on ID. If you were a police officer would you be more inclined to follow through with an enthusiast or with someone who's trying to be clever? Jonathan
  22. Could it really have been as simple as a loose alternator plug? Looking forward to hearing if that's solved it. Same thought as Paul's: What sort of alternator, and how many terminals and thin wire connections does it have? Jonathan
  23. I replaced my passenger's side factory Luke harnesses with a Titon set because they would make the lap straps to tighten the way i wanted, they were wider and they were cheaper. Very pleased with them, with one exception. I bought them from Prima Motorsport but if I ever buy any more they'll come from Meteor Motorsport. Jonathan PS: The exception was that the fitting was too thick to allow easy swivelling with my old top hat spacers and they couldn't supply new ones that did. So I had a batch made that do, and still have a few left if anyone needs a pair.
  24. Lots in the archives, but this is probably the most useful single thread. Jonathan
  25. There are a few sources in the previous discussions, but I don't think I've seen one mentioned recently. Jonathan
