  1. What engine and carburettors? Have you already asked Redline, Holdens, Car Builder Solutions and Demon Tweeks? Jonathan
  2. Thanks. Have you asked them for a comment (and/or a new bolt)? Jonathan
  3. Original standard factory bolt and bushes? Jonathan
  4. Penetrating oil such as PlusGas and leave to soak. (WD-40 isn't anything special at penetrating.) Then as much heat as you can face applying... I'd start with a hot air gun. Then physical violence... something like a wood drift and a mallet. Jonathan
  5. I have also got these fitted, had them for a while but wondered whether they should have resistors for the brake lights? Looks like it from that web page. Jonathan
  6. Somewhere in the archives there's a trick using an electrical cable thingy... Jonathan
  7. Too soon! Just got a a reply from Demon Tweeks: "The thread is listed as M5 depth is not listed but we would expect around 15-20 mm. The two outer tabs are usually the only mounts required." Jonathan
  8. ... it might just push the hot air about... Are you thinking of stirring what's there or drawing from outside? Jonathan
  9. Can you add photos of the outside and inside? If it's going to involve more than filler I'd recommend practising on a bit of scrap before doing the bit that matters.Jonathan
  10. Previous discussion with size and sources. Jonathan
  11. As Paul says: gearbox or wheel sensor? If wheel do you have the Workshop Notice for the modification? That shows the connector and the earth entering the loom but not where it emerges.Jonathan
  12. Hole in thermostat Ian's the expert and this is his photo: Brass T-piece I don't know a source for a brass T-piece with a built in bleed valve (as opposed to a T-junction)... anyone? I'd guess we're looking for 16mm. Jonathan
  13. Coolant The only special requirement for K engines is the right inhibitors for the aluminium engine. I use Comma XStream G30. Thermostat The part number for the 82°C thermostat is Unipart GTS104/5. If you can't find one, even from Redline, let us know. Would you like Ian's photo of where the hole should be? Bleeding T-piece Sources above. Some prefer to use metal rather than plastic because of the possibility of cracking. (I've never fitted mine because the system fills easily but I would if it didn't.) Fan direction Yes! :-) Jonathan
  14. Bienvido. There are lots of bad experiences with cooling K engines in 7s. And there are ways of changing the system dramatically, but let's start with some simple measures, which lead to success in most cars: What coolant are you using? Yes, cooler thermostats are often helpful. My 1800 K has an 82°C. (In England it's now quite common for engines not to get up to temperature on motorways on cold days!) If you say what temperature you'd like I'll look up the part number... I think they're the same as for Minis. Are you sure you're filling it fully without air locks? There are tricks such as tilting the car nose-up, using a bleeding t-piece at the top of the circuit and massaging the hoses. Check that the hoses from the engine to the radiator are getting fully hot. If all of those don't seem to allow it to fill properly the next step is drilling a small hole in the thermostat: pictures are available. Check that the fan comes on at a suitable temperature and blows air in the right direction. Yes, the temperature threshold can be changed.Good luck Jonathan
  15. You're not alone. The "standard" wiring colours can help... Jonathan PS: The newer diagrams are much harder to follow!
  16. ... why the hazards work but the indicators sometimes dont. The hazard warning light circuit is probably wired independently of the ignition switch setting, but the indicators aren't, which I think is what you were suggesting. ... when it now occurs, the ignition light fails to come on (although engine starts and runs ok). Ordinary incandescent lamp in there, not an LED? I'd have a good look and wiggle around the wiring and connections at the ignition switch. Then trace the ignition warning light circuit, preferably when it ihas failed. Have you got the appropriate wiring diagram? Jonathan
  17. Drop off and temporary storage available near J8 of the M40. Jonathan
  18. ... the build manual schematic doesn't show the brake light switch unlike diagrams for other models... The diagram I sent you is the 2016 and AFAIK current version including Sigmas. In the engine harness it has: Please could you check the one you already had, and if it doesn't show that email me a copy. ... the sigma seems to have been wired a bit differently with a separate fuse... Discussion of the mystery fuse layout. Jonathan
  19. Previous discussion. But I'd guess that most people try another one and see if it makes any difference. Jonathan
  20. I've only got that and the layout of the fuses and relays in the Handbook. I really don't like the schematic style. The "standard" wiring colours sometimes help. Jonathan
  21. Have you got a wiring diagram? Let me know if you'd like one. Jonathan
  22. What do you see as the advantages of aluminium? If the piece doesn't have to be a special shape then plywood will be about the same mass and cheaper. Jonathan
