  2. Previous discussions and conclusions. Jonathan
  3. I've learnt that you can replace the whole cable with bike stuff... would a bike outer fit the original inner? Jonathan
  4. Welcome. I'm not sure that previous discussions have ever led to part numbers... but I'm reasonably certain that you'll be able to find what you want. Can you pull one of the existing lamps and post a photo to show the type? Autobulbs Direct seem to have lots. Jonathan
  5. Could switching the wires around on the alternator cause this problem? I need to have a closer look at all the alternator wiring. "Yes", and that's where I'd start. If you can find a part number for the alternator or similar or post a photograph of the terminal pattern and trace all of the current connections that should help. The disconnection of the ignition warning light is intriguing. And that's come up before. I'd want that working properly at the end of this job. I don't know enough about master switches or the ways they are wired, anyone... ? Jonathan
  6. Titanium7's, but I'm not sure what type he used. Have you already got the circuit diagram? Jonathan
  7. I don't think I've ever seen that discussed before. If James can't help: The arms are a Land Rover part. Tex Automotive say that they can supply theirs polished.Jonathan
  8. Yes, if it's consistently underreading as opposed to going wrong intermittently or in a way that is affected by speed that would be my first choice: recent discussion with instructions. Also milometer LED display loosing parts of numbers. Any fix? That's segments of the display dropping out rather than anything to do with the calibration? Speedometers and other instruments are repairable. Jonathan
  9. Check if disconnecting the fan stops it immediately. Have you got a diagram for how the master switch is connected? What sort of alternator and was it like for like or did you have to change connections or other wiring in any way? Does it otherwise charge normally and does the ignition warning light come on with the ignition and go off as soon as the engine starts? Is the lamp an LED or a traditional incandescant?Previous discussion. Jonathan
  10. Instructions for Caerbont instruments. Jonathan
  11. I've seen two cars with intermittent cut out and starting issues with ECU earth problems. Could that stop the fuel pump from running normally? Thanks Jonathan
  12. I didn't try starting it with the fuel pump hard wired, but wanted to hear that the pump worked OK an dwasnt the source of the isse. The test proved that it works, but isn't getting a priming signal Same thought as Ian: how about running those jump wires again and seeing if it then fires? Battery is fully charged and spins the engine over no problem It probably isn't the problem but I'd still want to see the voltage as you try to start. Some 7 electronics seem very sensitive to low voltage. I don't have a wiring diagram, but feel the need creeping up on me! :-) Please send me a Private Mail with the year, model, engine and dash and your email address. Jonathan
  13. What's the battery voltage at rest and when attempting to start? Fuses checked Has it ever blown the ECU fuse, and what value do you have in there? When it eventually restarted I assumed something had dried out! Is it all dry around the plugs? Fuel pump doesn't prime at all when ignition is turned on.Hard wiring the pump proves it to be fine More on that please... you can hear the pump when it's jump wired but not when it isn't? Does that jump wiring affect it firing? ... But I think you're getting close to removing the plugs and having a look at them. ... Do you have a wiring diagram? Jonathan
  14. Please send me a Private Mail with the model, engine, year and type of dash and your email address. Jonathan
  15. I need a new one ASAP where from caterham again, don't seem there very reliable by your accounts. See the second link in post #2. Jonathan
  16. No, bonnet of and it's in front off the driver with good access. Would you like an Assembly Guide? Jonathan
  17. Like the resettable circuit breaker idea though You can get both resettable circuit breakers and replacement fuses that illuminate on blowing that physically fit sockets for blade fuses and come in appropriate ratings. Everyone seems happy with those regardless of source. But I don't think I've yet seen a resettable circuit breaker that illuminates on blowing... the closest would be the ones where the reset button pops out or similar. Jonathan
  18. Thanks. Is there a tried or recommended alternative sensor? Jonathan
  19. Everything else working? It's most likely to be the switch: lots of failures have been reported. But it's easy to replace, and a better version is available from Car Builder Solutions. Have you got a wiring diagram (let me know if not) and multimeter? Check the fuse is OK. Remove the pedal box cover and see if the switch being actuated correctly. Then put your multimeter across the switch and test the conduction when it's pressed and not pressed. If the problem is inside the switch and you need to use the 7 before you get a replacement it may be possible to mend it temporarily. But when you take it apart beware of the little spring which has a habit of making a bid for freedom. Jonathan
  20. What's your track set-up (power, tyres, brakes and pads etc) and do you think that what you've been using so far has been a problem? Previous discussion, and see especially the first two threads. I'll take a lot of convincing that there's anything better than the factory recommended fluid for most 7s in most situations. Jonathan (Comma DOT 5.1 since the original build)
  21. Just off to get the Vespa MoTd... I'll say what I'd do when I'm back. Jonathan
  22. I'm not sure how to add a photo to this query so I'll put two up on my blogg Forum User Guide Jonathan
  23. Having done this a few times now I can get going again in about 15 mins That's a wheel sensor rather than gearbox? Are you sure it's the sensor that fails first rather than an intermittent wiring problem? Which sensors are you using? Jonathan PS: A resettable circuit breaker might take a few minutes off that... :-)
