  1. What model of 7? I'd check if it is the seat bolts... and some are considerably longer than needed. What's your current minimum ground clearance? Jonathan PS: I go either way on those.
  2. i have tried to post the photos taken earlier today, but it's not simple....... You can either upload the photos here or link to them on another site: which would you prefer? Follow the Forum User Guide and let us know where you get stuck. Jonathan
  3. You're only asking about the engine speeds, not how to configure the device? Jonathan
  4. Sounds right, but is the third white with a black trace or black with a white trace? MOCA2CV's excellent notes and pictures for a DRE unit. SURESHIFT 2 Product Information. SureShift 2 User Handbook Installation & Operating Instructions. Jonathan PS: There's some issue about using an ECU feed rather than the tachometer signal, but it might not apply to your configuration.
  5. As above: clear epoxy eg Crystal Araldite. Jonathan
  6. I drive there and (usually) back. I'd add selection of correct brain mode to that list.. Each to his own, but it would somehow feel inappropriate to do it any other way. Jonathan
  7. ... does it deteriorate over time even though it's still sealed? I'd guess not. Jonathan
  8. What Stu says, and there's a lot on related options in the archives including a Guide, but unfortunately it's scattered across multiple threads. Added lights of this sort probably won't breach regulations for use on public roads, and are very unlikely to cause a problem at MoT inspections. Jonathan PS: We finally cracked how to show a Dropbox image inline. http://www.dropbox.com/s/z0b0hjyowas2mue/007%20%282%29.JPG?raw=1
  9. Andrew's description of the changes in heat transfer sounds right. Would it also be logical to switch the radiator fan on early in the process when you know that it's about to happen? Jonathan
  10. What does “fitting the remote sender submarine” mean? It follows mcerbm's and Stu's thoughts about local temperature being affected by the heat of the exhaust, especially when stationary. The submarine is a metal component of the cooling system that vaguely resembles one. I imagine that you can relocate the temperature sensor in it. Jonathan
  11. First check whether that feed to the fuse box for the flashers that you've used is switched with the ignition or not, and that's what you want. There shouldn't be any polarity problems. Jonathan
  12. Is that different from the usual Type 9 gaiter? Jonathan
  13. The ones that I've seen are passive and don't care. Could you add a link to the one you're using? And confirm that it's in the usual position: in the feed from the battery to the pump. Jonathan
  14. And who shall have Jill? :-) Jonathan
  15. With your setup and jack would rolling the front wheels onto planks first give enough clearance to do it the way you'd prefer? (I've also heard of people removing the castor wheels on the jack to gain clearance, but I'd worry about it kicking out if you weren't very careful with the forces .) Jonathan (Piece of carpet taped on the lifting plate but I do like the idea of an honest puck)
  16. What's in the fastener packs: 1, 2. Bolt list. Would you like an Assembly Guide: send me a Private Mail with the 7's make, model and year, and your email address if you do.I think the closest to getting complete packs would be asking Redline. Jonathan
  17. Consider different, more all round tyre - if so, any recommendations? What size are your current wheels? What's the planned use: Road and some trackdays? ... loads of previous forums on the subject Unfortunately there are. This might be the most useful single thread. Jonathan
  18. Sorry to hear that. In that case I'd definitely remove the gauge first. Jonathan
  19. Not too hard: Remove the gauge to see how it all works. Remove the lamp. Find a matching replacement lamp. (You can now get LED lamps that fit, but you might then want to change them all to match. ...etc.Jonathan PS: It's not essential to have either a wiring diagram or a multimeter, but it wouldn't hurt. ;-)
  20. I think I'll have to try and borrow a second pair of ears outside the car! Wise move: a stethoscope can also help. Jonathan
  21. Yes. I have mine done while it's up on the lift for the MoT inspection. Jonathan
  22. Sensor: "Wiring: yellow/brown - pickup; brown -ve; brown/black +ve. 8 pulses per revolution". :-) Jonathan
  23. What make and model is the new sensor? Do you already have the wiring diagram for your car? Let me know if you'd like one. Jonathan PS Some preliminary guesses: Green: accessories fused via ignition switch Blue/Red: (sometimes used for RH headlamp main beam!) Brown: should be a feed from the battery Black/Brown: sometimes used for generator/ alternator to tachometer, so probably sensor to instrument Yellow/Brown discussed in this thread, but first I'd make sure it's appropriate to your specific model of 7.
