  1. Measure of rubber hardness. Jonathan
  2. Unfortunately no-one has come up with an electrical specialist. Other options include a Caterham service provider and.... The Power of BlatChat. I think that we could make some progress using the latter if that's what you'd like. Jonathan
  3. I have the 160 *wiring diagrams. They include the ECU pin-outs. Please send me a Private Message with your email address if you'd like a copy. Jonathan * And Assembly Guide and Owner's Handbook and factory notice of amendments. Ditto.
  4. Welcome I suggest starting by checking exactly which bit is sticking. Disconnect the cable at the throttle end and at the pedal and then see which parts move smoothly and which don't. Jonathan PS: If you'd like the appropriate Assembly Guide please send me a Private Message with your email address.
  5. Do you have Andrew Revill's corrected wiring diagram for K-engined Sevens? I can email copies. Jonathan
  6. 3D printing? We have some very helpful practitioners... Jonathan
  7. What model is the gearbox? Burton Power are good for speedo bits. Jonathan PS: Other options include electronic drive from the gearbox (but you'd have to change the instrument), driving a cycle computer off a wheel, and a GPS device.
  8. There's Ivor Terrill in Oxford, but the car has to go to them. Jonathan
  9. The Assembly Guide used to describe them as "special blue bolts". I don't know the correct specification. Jonathan
  10. What's the part number or URL, please? Jonathan
  11. Have you decided which plugs to use? ... From a previous discussion: Jonathan
  12. I wouldn't expect the contact area to affect the galvanic potential. And I don't know if an ordinary multimeter has appropriate characteristics, especially impedance, to measure this. Jonathan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galvani_potential
  13. Hw much are you replacing? Will you keep the existing carrier? Jonathan
  14. Available from Rimmer Bros. Jonathan PS: Caterhan have also used another Rover expansion tank from the Freelander.
  15. "DIY garage alignment": So not about feng shui or ley lines? ; - ) Jonathan
  16. There's a safety point when removing the steering wheel and upper column: make sure that their trajectory doesn't include your face. Jonathan
  17. Do you have a copy of the old style text-rich Assembly Guide or only the current pictorial style? There's a lot more information in the former. Please let me know if you'd like one. Jonathan
  18. Is that on an iPhone? There is a possible explanation. Jonathan
  19. Fascinating. Is 1600/ 26 minutes used elsewhere for anything? Jonathan PS: Add a c in the right place and you're describing the owners...
  20. Thanks. Yes. i think that it may well be necessary to identify both issues related to pasting and issues related to editing once the text is on the site. In Safari there's an option to Paste and Match Style. This can avoid a lot of problems with text that isn't plain text. I expect that other browsers have the same functionality. This can save time over explicit reformatting of text before pasting. Jonathan
  21. I recommend these articles: Wikipedia: "Master-slave technology: Terminology concerns" WIRED: "Tech Confronts Its Use of the Labels ‘Master’ and ‘Slave’". and I was surprised by how many different technologies use the wording: mechanical engineering, computing, creative media production... It looks as if there was a notice at JLR but I can't find what it actually said. Surrogate is a very poor surrogate. Leader/follower and primary/secondary would work in many settings. Primary/replica puzzled me for a bit: I think that it came from production of creative media and that it would work well there but not for hydraulic cylinders. I don't expect mastering or master copy to disappear in the near future. Or master/slave. Jonathan
  22. Thanks. Discussion of the Marelli 53034. Is that a package including the battery management system or just the battery? Discussed here. Jonathan
  23. Yes, that's possible. First fill will be with coolant recommended by Caterham. And so will most subsequent fills... unless a problem has come to light. Jonathan
  24. Comma G30 and MOTUL Inugel Optimal are both based on ethylene glycol. https://www.commaoil.com/productsguide/view/6/351 https://www.motul.com/tm/en/products/inugel-optimal` Jonathan
