  1. I chose Titon which I bought from Prima but would now buy from Meteor Motorsport. They'll make them with the buckle the side you want, and the lap straps pulling either up or down. Only one problem: I needed slightly different top hat spacers to get the right clearance and had to get them made separately. I still have a few... I'd be happy to buy the same again. Jonathan
  2. Yes, which is why I asked. Jonathan
  3. 1600 or 1700 cc? Live axle or de Dion? Jonathan
  4. Posts #6, #7, #9 in this thread... sounds entertaining. Jonathan
  5. You've already located and exposed the boss... ? Jonathan
  6. Have you got a multimeter... or another car or good battery to jump? Jonathan
  7. Glad it's fixed. What did you do... fit a new battery? Too much voltage drop for something electronic happens surprisingly often in 7s, which is why I usually recommend measuring the battery voltage at rest, minimum during cranking and at 3,000 rpm early in the diagnostic process. Trying to start the car has become an issue as when I press the starter button the car fires up & starts, then after less than a second it cuts out. But yours didn't sound like that... Jonathan
  8. I haven't tried it but when we were talking at a recent Bear 7s club meet about the club's For Sale webpages, they mentioned that you can still send a PM to a member even even as a non member, which is helpful to members as they can potentially sell their items to more people than just members. Yes. And there's more on that specific point and how that function could be developed here. Jonathan
  9. Thanks, Stewart. There's now more discussion of what should be visible and what shouldn't here. Jonathan PS: Jason has pointed out some good features of the SELOC site.
  10. New build? Which type of 7... factory Sierra calipers? Pads in happily? Jonathan
  11. My recommended battery for most purposes in most 7s (if you don't want a lithium) is now: The Powervamp PC680. £84.47 plus VAT plus £10 shipping by Fedex, From Powervamp on 01934 643000.Jonathan

  14. I wouldn't be optimistic but is it the sort that can be topped-up, and do you have a multimeter? And if it is shot... Have you already decided that you definitely want a lithium battery? I've just updated my recommendation for non-lithium types. Jonathan
  15. I just thought I would mention that we won’t be selling batteries on the eBay platform going forward, but we will still be taking orders by phone. Thanks. Did you get a web page or any contact details? Jonathan PS: That explains what's happening on their eBay site... I was wondering if there was a darker explanation.
  16. Have you already decided that you definitely want a lithium battery? How is the 7 stored: on a charger, immobilised, battery isolated, long periods? See discussion of energy capacity above. Everything from the archives. Happy New Year Jonathan
  17. Is it (the drive from the six speed box) the same as that for the Type 9 gearbox? Anyone? Thanks Jonathan
  18. To help the original poster: that's an electronic system off the original mechanical drive? Jonathan
  19. A Caterham owner, none member friend of mine mentioned that he's seen a trend of members sending a private mail in answer to technical queries. I haven't really noticed this, but I'll take his word for it. I do that occasionally, and I know the reasons why. Would it be possible for you to ask him his, please? It seems to defeat the object of Tech Talk. Yes. Thanks Jonathan
  20. From Derek in another forum: I think blatchat should be for paid up members only and as Paul said poss rest open for sales purchases ect and may attract new members Jonathan
  21. De Dion or live axle? See Harry Flatters' comments from 2003. Jonathan
  22. Clean it with the two part Pipercross kit? I did my cylinder/sock-type that way and only used half the pack. Jonathan PS: I'm sure it would be possible to buy the active ingredients much more cheaply but I don't know what they are...
  23. Speedo drive: Caterham or Redline? Is it the same as that for the Type 9 gearbox? Burton Power have one that is supposed to be "improved" and also stock cogs with different numbers of teeth. Jonathan
