  1. I think that probably we all want to shift from tungsten-halogen to LED but are not quite confident that the technology has been perfected for automotive use. Roughly yes, and that's why we need exact model descriptions if we're to learn from each others' experiences. Jonathan
  2. What type of lamps? Do they have a control unit/ dongle or does the traditional wiring go directly to the lamp?I'd want to distinguish between flickering due to the electrical feed and flickering due to something intrinsic. How about: Looking at the feed voltage while one of them is flickering. Disconnecting them totally from the car and reconnecting them to a steady 12 to 13 V feed. If you don't have anything else you could do that with the car battery, again disconnected from everything else. What doe CAN bus have to do with this? Jonathan
  3. It would be great if you could pursue ChrisC's suggestions... Jonathan
  4. Nankang also do the AR-1 in 185/60/R14 which is a much more track focussed tyre, though I've not heard many reviews on these yet. Nankang (both types) from the archives. Jonathan
  5. ... and the whizzed the bolts off with an electric Sealey impact wrench with the desired size impact socket, after soaking them in WD40 Well done. But WD-40 isn't a very good releasing fluid. I suggest PlusGas or similar. Unfortunately I've never found a proper comparative trial... does anyone know of one... or have several similar jammed bolts... ? Jonathan
  6. ... if it has the cross members bolted on rather than having them brazed (spelling?) in. Spelling is good, cf braised food. But it's a strange sounding word, possibly because brazen is so much more common... hussy, image... Jonathan
  7. W177 or W77, Geoff? Thanks Jonathan
  8. In that case I'd ask Darren at Caterham or Redline. Jonathan
  9. There's a circuit diagram and suggested products somewhere...would you like to do it with two buzzers or one buzzer and some diodes? But are you sure that you only want an immediate buzzer and not an adjustable-delayed-onset-of-buzzing device? I'll find the discussions in the archives when you've decided. Jonathan
  10. I had a batch of top hat spacer/ washers made up for Titon plates. If you need some let me know the size. Jonathan
  11. Usually self-tapping screw or pop rivet. There can be a problem getting the nose of the rivet gun far enough in, but there's a trick with a nut. Previous discussions with hints, including the rivet trick. The Assembly Guide has instructions: let me know if you'd like a copy. There's a special tool for the bit that goes in the tonneau cover. Jonathan
  12. Oil filter part numbers. Jonathan
  13. Now keeping an eye on the charger as I suspect it may not be reliable! My saga will be published RSN... Which model of CTEK charger and which battery do you have? Jonathan
  14. 14" wheels, safe on wet public roads and maybe some trackdays? There's a lot of us in that position, and a vast amount of advice and opinion in the archives. I'd start here. If you want to find views on specific tyres I suggest using the external search linked from the second item in my tagline below. Jonathan
  15. OK... what wires have you got from the car, and what from the shift lights unit? Jonathan
  16. Found it... shall we continue over here? Jonathan
  17. The connections are somewhere in the archives... I'll have a look. What did it say in the instructions? Jonathan
  18. Well done. Thanks for the solution. Jonathan
  19. What I am looking for is the lightest battery that will work for track days and the odd weekend away blatting, which will start a max of 5 times a day. Will the battery live on a charger when the 7 isn't being used? Is the current drain low when it isn't being used and not on the charger? Does the 7 start well? If all of those are the case the energy storage might not be too important... Jonathan
  20. There's some discussion in the archives, including some recommended scales. Apparently it helps enormously to use the type that holds the display rather than resetting to zero, or something like that. Jonathan
  21. What's the history of the car, and was it used for any type of competition? What type of brakes does it have at each end, do you think they are original, and does it have a cable-operated handbrake? Jonathan
  22. I have attempted to attach a photo but can't seem to achieve it. You can either upload a photo to this site or link to one hosted on another service. Have a look at Ian B's excellent Forum User Guide and let us know where you get stuck. Jonathan
  23. That should be compatible. Jonathan
  24. I'd never heard of "ESP", just checked the technical data sheet. The 3y is shelf life. Should be fine. No problem using that in a car without ABS. (But what fluid do you have in at the moment... any DOT 4 should be compatible.)Jonathan
