  1. Thanks for the photo of the fob. For the Sterling Excel/Toad I have the User Guide, specification, and some correspondence with Caterham about reprogramming. Jonathan
  2. Thanks. We're getting close! : - ) What's the voltage across the battery as the starter spins the engine? Jonathan
  3. Photo of immobiliser fob, please. Once we've identified the type we can work out what might be wrong and run through the reset procedure. Jonathan
  4. I'm confused: is it now cranking but not not firing? Jonathan
  5. That's very useful to know in the process of diagnosis. See comment above about other ignition-switched comments: why isn't it making a noise? (Andrew Revill showed this for K series engines, but I didn't know for Sigmas.) Jonathan
  6. Welcome If you'd like the appropriate wiring diagram and layout of fuses and relays please send me a Private Message with your email address. Has it been working normally before this, and has there been any recent work on it? Immobiliser, as above. If you add a photo of the fob we can work out which sort, and what might be wrong. Does the voltage across the battery change when you ask it to start? Do you have another vehicle or battery that you could use to jump start? Try wiggling the key in the lock/switch. And do other ignition-switched circuits work? Check wires and connections on battery and starter, including engine earths. Jonathan
  7. And the outcome. "First MOT test to remain at 3 years from registration and annually thereafter while government works to establish a programme of longer-term reform for MOTs." Jonathan
  8. Is that the same as a "Mini Zeta"? Previous discussions: Jonathan
  9. I think that you could change that without total draining. Detailed planning of fingers and plugs. Do it when it's as cold as possible. And there's that magic freezing stuff for domestic plumbing. Or you could drain into a clean container and reuse. Jonathan
  10. Welcome I'd pursue 3 a bit further. Would you be doing the work yourself? Background reading on K series while we're waiting for the experts: • K series from DVA Power • DVA Power Jonathan PS: If you'd like some relevant documentation from Caterham and Rover please send me a Private Message with your email address.
  11. From another thread... could you do these for 50 mm straps? Thanks Jonathan
  12. Annually, while it’s up on the ramp for the MoT inspection. Jonathan SNAP!
  13. They only had to ask... Jonathan
  14. From the wiring diagram: And here's the JST catalogue. Jonathan
  15. Possibly one of these: or one of these: \ But it might be quickest to fit a new matching pair. Jonathan
  16. I'm always happy to play with different tactics... : - ) Jonathan
  17. Have you bought an electrical adaptor for a Type 9 gearbox? I'd be interested in which one and how well it works. Jonathan
  18. Welcome You're in the right place! But you've started with a tough problem. I don't think that we've ever documented all of those connectors. I'd ask Redline if they can help, and you don't need a part number for that. Technical Guide to Speedometers Speedometer and Instrument Repairs And do you need any wiring diagrams? Jonathan
  19. There's a few references in the archives. Jonathan
  20. Thanks. I'm talking about this with the Leadership Team again. It isn't as simple as it looks but I hope that we can make progress. Jonathan
  21. Doesn't time fly? How do the official service centres manage? And if anyone does have anything later... please could they send copies to John and me so that we can share them with other Members. Thanks Jonathan
  22. I have the factory diagrams and some other bits and pieces. Please send me a Private Message with your email address. A table of "standard" British wiring colours can also save some time. Jonathan
