  1. I don't know about recent changes either. The Assembly Guide did change. I've got a pdf of the section with all the adjustments: let me know if you'd like a copy. They are pretty obvious with one exception... adjustment of the clutch cable to minimise wear where it rides over an edge. One of the adjustments is bending the throttle pedal... Even with all of the adjustments at their limits my throttle pedal was far too low and is now graced with a lump of mahogany on top.Jonathan

  3. If I've got the right bit of Andrew's exceptional piece of detective work it's this: Jonathan

  5. That would get me off the hook, John. :-) Andrew: Great idea, but today I am mostly sealing the garage floor. And after that comes the giant buzz wire game for this summer's wedding! Jonathan
  6. Have you changed anything else since it was operating correctly with the original incandescant warning light? ... and to one of the G wires that feeds the switches. Which wire and is it ignition-switched? Jonathan
  7. For yourself: think about the risks to your sight, your hearing and the preferred configuration of your face. Good suggestions about choices for reducing these above, to which I would only add that eye protection kit for work is much cheaper than that for recreational activities. But it's your call. But please also think about any passengers...they're probably much less knowledgeable about these than you are. Jonathan
  8. Discussed here. Unfortunately the links are broken. Jonathan

Just need to get researching how much of the fluids I need. See Jim's post #3 above. But if you need an Assembly Guide or Handbook that isn't there please let me know. Jonathan
  10. Have you searched the archives? 213 Performance, the new UK service centre, have been very helpful.Jonathan
  11. #*8: If I used one of those I'd remove the plug and hard wire it to ensure a decent connection. Jonathan

... but is a dealer stamp worth anymore to a car like this. Usual conclusion is that it isn't worth much, but good documentation of what's been done regardless of who did it can help when selling. Jonathan
  13. Fascinating problem, and I still can't explain it with one razorish or a few specific causes. Hadn't thought of #2. My general approach would be to isolate one or more circuits from each other until something worked as it should, then build back up again one at a time until something went wrong. Hope you're back in business tomorrow night, and looking forward to the answer. Jonathan
  14. Photos and eventual £ spent/kg saved, please. Thanks Jonathan
  15. If you’d like a wiring diagram please send me a Private Mail with your email address. Jonathan
  16. I'm not an expert, but I suspect this is some electric gremlin. Me too... whatever the fault is the response seems too rapid. Any other strange behaviour with any instruments? Any recent work? Do you have a wiring diagram and a multimeter? Jonathan
  17. ... I suspect that the speedo drive is common to the Type 9, Type E and Caterham six-speed boxes but I don't know... See: https://www.lotus7.club/comment/2251367#comment-2251367 Jonathan
  18. Thanks, Ian. Burton Power (usually!) carry the parts, and a converter to electrical signalling. Jonathan
  19. Nice: sometimes it makes all the difference just to know it's possible. When you were sorting out the replacement drive did you discover if all of the speedo bits for the Caterham 6 speed box are identical to those for the Ford Type 9? (As suspected but not established in a recent thread.) Thanks Jonathan
  20. Which alternator? And what exciting current does it want? Jonathan
  21. ... the inboard suspension design reduces unsprung weight, or is that my imagination? Discussed here in a Sevenish concept, but not very clearly. Was there a particular version or comparison you had in mind? (Moving brake assemblies inboard with otherwise unchanged suspension reduces unsprung mass. As does the whole de Dion tube design.) Jonathan
  22. "The CR500 is being replaced by the ZZS as OE on Caterhams, however Avon Motorsport will still continue to manufacture the CR500 in limitied (sic) quanities (sic) for the foreseeable future. We would recommend changing over to the ZZS where possible." Jonathan
  23. I don't think it's specific to Caterham and Burton Power might carry the parts. I don't understand that limited date window. Jonathan PS: They also offer a conversion to electronic signalling. PPS: I suspect that the speedo drive is common to the Type 9, Type E and Caterham six-speed boxes but I don't know...
