I’ve just removed almost 30 years of grime from my supersprint using Bilthamber surfex HD. It’s confusingly impressive as it removes grease like pure alcohol does yet it’s water based therefore in my mind i had previously dismissed it. It's a mixture of two detergents, so it needs a water phase. Jonathan

Fog light itself is working normally? (It's often wired so that it can only operate when the headlights are dipped.) Red/ White is "standard" for instrument lights, as above. Let me know if you need any 7 diagrams. Jonathan

No power to any of the instruments at any time. Are these traditional separate instruments? Jonathan

Any recent work? Has it been drowned? Do you already have a wiring diagram and fuse layout that match the car? Let me know if not. And a multimeter? ... There's a recurrently reported problem on some K ECUs that is fixed by using a 30 A fuse rather than 20 A but I don't think I've read anything similar with Duratecs. Jonathan

How about the pulling those that are discrepant (which will identify them and start to confirm the layout) and fitting the factory suggested fuses, and seeing what happens? (With a few spares to hand!) The only recurrent problem of which I'm aware is the recommendation for 30 A rather than 20 A for some ECUs. Jonathan PS: Usual option of resettable circuit breakers or those clever fuses that light up when they're blown.

Reports of Ks running cold seem to have become more common. Some have resorted to radiator blinds. When mine was rebuilt it was suggested that a lower rated thermostat was more suitable than the factory spec. But I don't know if VVCs are different... I'd want to check that the current thermostat closes correctly... using a pan of water and a thermometer. Jonathan
