  1. There's a known fault with wheel sensors and their wiring that can affect other circuits. Recently discussed here with suggested approaches to fixing it. Have you got the appropriate wiring diagram and a multimeter? Jonathan
  2. This has come up before, but I can't remember exactly which sizes of tyres were possible. Might they fit if they were moved laterally a bit... so that wheels with different offset might do the trick? Yes, there are different sizes of stays but I've never seen a description of all of them in one place. Lots of us have wings that are kept in place by adhesive alone. But it has to be done right to prevent them making a bid for freedom. Packing them away from the stays might increase that risk. If I were exploring that solution I'd fix the packing piece to the stay using eg nuts and bolts and then adhesive around that. Jonathan
  3. Any help in identifying the ground wire would be gratefully receive. Not sure what you're looking for. IIRC the horn circuit is "switched earth" so the switch connects the wire coming back from the horn (or relay) to any convenient local earth, such as the steering column. Jonathan
  4. Did you find the recent thread about the failed floor which included some photos of bridging supports? Jonathan
  5. ! But, taking that as a test case, do they cite the Section in the notice of failure... and I'm trying to work out how that could play to your advantage with the wheel nuts... Jonathan
  6. like a pan of milk boiling over... I don't get the analogy... milk boils over because of some pretty complex chemistry. (Which is why water doesn't.) hot gas expands, so in the same space with a hole, it escapes faster due to increased pressure. What flow do you have in mind... cylinder to exhaust system or exhaust system to atmosphere? If the former the destination space is hotter in the wrapped state compared to the unwrapped... Jonathan
  7. Folding sidescreens with extra elbow room were introduced in 1988, according to Rees. Jonathan
  8. Is that the high citrus variety of Monster? Coca-Cola is a surprisingly good cleaner, presumably because of the phosphoric acid. But I've never understood the chemistry of bike cleaners that smell of citrus... is it the acid, citric acid, limonene... ? Jonathan
  9. Pictures are fine... and much better with that bit of separation! :-) Jonathan
  10. I presume you don't have the diagram for the 620R? I don't know... would you expect it to be different from the current factory Duratec diagram? Jonathan
  11. With Charles' advice and that stuck speedo I'd disconnect that circuit in as many places as possible and see what difference that makes. Otherwise with a non-obvious cause I'd pull the fuses on everything and restore the circuits one by one until something didn't work as it should. Jonathan
  12. ... in fact it will increase performance as the gas will be hotter in the primaries and therefore its velocity will be higher. Why is that, please? Thanks Jonathan
  13. Can't see anything relevant in the Manual... Jonathan
  14. Glad it's fixed. Local repair of starters and alternators seems to be generally successful and cheap... and they're likely to fit first time! Jonathan
  15. Do you have or want a battery isolation switch? Do you want to be able to use the socket for charging the battery as well as powering devices? If I were doing this again I'd fit both a "cigar lighter" socket and a couple of USB ports. But NB the current capacity of the USB ports (they're not all the same!), and the possibility of the converter generating electrical noise which could adversely affect intercoms and, presumably, entertainment. As above: lots on this in the archives... Jonathan
  16. Just back... fixed yet Andy? Jonathan
  17. "03A Fuel Tanks The fuel filler cap must either be tethered to the vehicle or be of a lockable type where the key can only be removed when the cap is locked or an automatically opening and closing, non-removable fuel filler cap (Post 0 5 / 2009 vehicles only)" Jonathan
  18. Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) inspection manual: passenger vehicles (M1): Is this the current manual? When they record a failure do they cite the section? Jonathan
  19. Does that lamp come out of the green bit? Jonathan
  20. Garth: Several alternative suggestions there... how about doing a direct comparison of them on your surfaces and seeing which works best and which is easiest? Jonathan
  21. I’ve just removed almost 30 years of grime from my supersprint using Bilthamber surfex HD. It’s confusingly impressive as it removes grease like pure alcohol does yet it’s water based therefore in my mind i had previously dismissed it. It's a mixture of two detergents, so it needs a water phase. Jonathan
  22. Fog light itself is working normally? (It's often wired so that it can only operate when the headlights are dipped.) Red/ White is "standard" for instrument lights, as above. Let me know if you need any 7 diagrams. Jonathan
  23. No power to any of the instruments at any time. Are these traditional separate instruments? Jonathan
