  1. Except for laying rubber, although not necessarily in all four gears? :-) Jonathan
  2. I can only lift it an inch. Has the rear lifted or might it be held by screws? Do you suggest that the cable is the way to go? Yes, but I know what you mean about twisting: I don't know if that's ever possible. Jonathan
  3. Have you slackened the cable to get the lever vertical? Some covers have a couple of self-tapping screws in the rear bottom corners. You'll also need to remove the gear lever knob. Jonathan
  4. Some types of LSD are detected by that trick, but others not. Apparently. Jonathan
  5. How's it going? And are you following jake's incident? Jonathan
  6. Bounce... any more recent experiences with lithium batteries? Jonathan
  7. Bounce... any more recent experiences with non-lithium batteries? Jonathan
  8. I only have that and the fuse and relay layout from the Handbook... and some notes on discrepant layouts in Sigma-engined 7s! Jonathan
  9. As above. "Standard" wiring colours, and let me know if you'd like the diagram for your 7. I can run my own feed, but was hoping to use what is there already. A couple of suggestions: You can add feeds by making a up a piece on the bench that has a double spade somewhere or a Y piece. That reduces the amount of fettling that you have to do in the difficult area under the dash, and enables it to be easily restored to original. A piggyback fuse:Jonathan
  10. So is the inner pushed back by the springs at the throttle end? And there was enough adhesion between that yellow metal barrel and the old cable end, but not the new? Jonathan
  11. Where are the return springs? Is the inner cable sticking at all in the outer when you move it by hand? Jonathan
  12. Guess it is a new master cylinder too? Where is the best place to get one? I'd try Redline first. Jonathan
  13. My reasons for looking for 2.1 A on all future USB ports: Running a smart 'phone that's being used for navigation with real-time network access and expecting a decent rate of charging. SNAP! Charging a tablet. Faster charging of any device that can take it. Futureproofing.Jonathan PS: Two classes of warship have recently run into big problems with their electrical requirements! :-)
  14. ... the Great Lithium Question... (Very light, expensive and possibly now suitable for widespread use.) Tanya
  15. If you want a straight replacement: Tayna. No problem posting. Consistently recommended. My current recommendation for most uses of most 7s: Powervamp PC680. That thread includes how to buy one, which is surprisingly difficult. Unless you're considering lithium... Tanya
  16. Possibly similar fault... with solution. Jonathan
  17. NB one of the ports only provides 1 A. That might not be enough for some devices. I'd look for 2.1 A on all USB ports from here on. Jonathan
  18. Have you found the magnet trick? (The same thread has a measurement on an SV.) Jonathan
  19. 20 mins later went to start the engine but the fob failed to disarm the immobiliser. Did the flashing light respond at all when you tried to disarm? ... How did you eventually get it to disarm? What's the battery voltage at rest, minimum during cranking and at 3,000 rpm? Jonathan
  20. Perhaps we need to re-visit the thread in 12 months.... Bounce. Jonathan
  21. Is the above from your car or have you sourced it? Click the link! It was just a convenient image for identification. :-) Yes, LEDs are available. But NB: If you are changing one lamp most of us prefer others that are similar to be the same. If you change the alternator/ ignition warning lamp from an incandescant lamp to an LED you'll probably need to add a resistor. It has been said that the loss of heating by the incandescant lamp can make misting in the instrument more likely.Auto Bulbs Direct were good when LEDs were starting to appear, but I'd now check if Just Add Lightness offer them. Then there's that website in Bristol that some Members like... Jonathan
  22. In *that case I think it's this type of 286. Does that look right? Jonathan * ;-)
