  1. Can you engage reverse? If so I'd try the foregoing also. Same thought: if the fault is in the selector then does whether selecting reverse engages the output shaft or not help to localise it? Jonathan
  2. Search I did but couldn't find anything , most likely my total ineptitude!!! Thanks for trying. Lots of us find the internal search difficult. I use a site-limited external search, which in this case gave: https://www.google.com/search?q=site:lotus7.club+cold+air+intake or, with "Sigma" included: https://www.google.com/search?q=site:lotus7.club+cold+air+intake+sigma. You can fire off similar searches using the second link in my signature below. Jonathan
  3. Has anyone fitted a cold air induction kit to their car other than the Caterham airbox set up. There's at least one fully ducted system in the archives. Let us know if you can't find it. Jonathan
  4. What TomB says about the silver lining. There are a couple of recent threads discussing the options. Jonathan
  5. What does the pedal action feel like? Have a look and a wiggle at both ends of the cable. Jonathan

    Oil

Millers nanodrive oils are making some claims that these oils can release an extra 3 to 5% Bhp and it seems to be the case. NB In most settings a different lubricant that can increase peak power can usually be found. The question is whether it makes any adverse trade-offs, see below. These asperities can be protected by nanoparticles, which act like billions of ball bearings to fill the gaps and make a more uniform surface on the atomic level. The nanoparticles in the Millers Oils are inorganic fullerenes that have multiple layers of nested spheres, and are less than 1/10th of a micron in size (0.000004"). Inorganic fullerenes are now available. I can't find what they are using. Trade-offs Miller's site includes: Laboratory tests and results show up to a further 15% reduction in friction and up to a further 17% reduction in wear over the previous award winning NT rangeBut I can't find the study that supports these claims so I can't assess whether they look true, plausible or relevant. And "up to" can be less impressive than it sounds. Has anyone got the data? Jonathan
  7. Well I did in fact manage to bleed the coolant system, it really wasn't as difficult as I was expecting. Any particular tricks that made a difference on yours? However, given that it started just after having the hoses replaced and appears to be fine after bleeding is surely evidence that there's a good chance this was the issue? I'd get out there and drive it... and I'm sure that you'll be keeping an eye on the temperature anyway. Jonathan
  8. I dont know how to insert an image otherwise I would show you a drawing. From a file on your computer? Start here and let us know if you get stuck. Jonathan
  9. The most commonly used alternatives are from Powerflex. You might be able to work backwards from their part numbers to find the sizes. NB differences in the A-frame as noted in post #2 of that thread. Jonathan
  10. Here's the one from my 1988 Assembly Guide: But of course the size has got lost in translation. If this is what you're after I could go and measure the printed version... Jonathan
  11. Please send me a Private Mail with your email address and details of the Seven: year, model and engine. Jonathan

Can you add a photo? Useful sources: Redline Polevolt Car Builder Solutions.Jonathan PS: Two of those have new website designs!
  13. Dan: what colour bag, please? Jonathan
  14. Sorry about the mailbox: please see my reply. Jonathan
  15. Have you got a multimeter and would you like a wiring diagram? Jonathan
  16. There are chemical kits such as this. This is not a recommendation. Jonathan
  17. Well done. ... we chased the problem down to the contacts on either side of the hazard switch. Remove switch, clean all contacts with emery paper and contact cleaner and all is now good, test drive and 24 hours later Is that the contacts inside the switch body or between the wires and the switch? Views on replacing the switches? From very limited evidence in the archives... sometimes cleaning works for a long time and sometimes it doesn't! Jonathan
  18. Weirdly initially there was no sign of the misfire when I drove it round the block so I decided to take it a bit further. Sure enough it started appearing again so I decided to head for home. When at home, before turning it off I took the bonnet and nose cone off to look for signs of the coolant leak. The fan was on at this point. Was it overheating while moving or did the fan only come on when stationary? Obviously I'm hoping it's not HGF. Is there any checks I can do to verify that either way? The oil doesn't look 'milky' which is one symptom I've heard of. You can test for products of combustion in the coolant, either garage or DIY. Jonathan
  19. How on earth do you get paragraphs to work on here? What device and browser are you using? Jonathan
  20. Thanks, Simon... is that a black roll? Jonathan
  21. Wile7: Two tubes and two tool roll 'bags' Dave: that's the black ones? And to which country would you like them delivered? Thanks Jonathan
  22. You can still get them in the current batch. :-) I'm getting the revised price from the supplier in China and then I'll confirm numbers. Jonathan
