  1. Which 1800 version? What's your desired maximum engine speed? Any modifications? Which gearbox? ... Can you post the dyno report? ... You can't predict the optimum change points from those two values alone. ... You'll probably get some useful advice here, and I'll see what the archives say. But how about using an acceleration app on a smart 'phone so that you can suck it and see? Jonathan
  2. Andrew Revill's solution. Green and yellow versions, and availability from Redline. Previous discussions! Jonathan
  3. If you'd like the Assembly Guide please send me a Private Mail with your email address and details of the Seven. John Vine's Guide to clutch release bearings. Jonathan
  4. Have you thought of fitting an accessory socket under the dash? That would let you use the charger without removing the bonnet as well as powering 'phones, satnavs etc. Do I need to attach the negative eyelet to somewhere on the chassis or to the negative pole on the battery? Is it this type? Jonathan
  5. Closest I can get, delivered from Germany: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Glamour-Gloss-Aerosol-11-8-oz-3680061/dp/B0082LJMC6/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1539619495&sr=1-1&keywords=2k+clear+glamour Jonathan
  6. Would you want to change the final drive ratio with the new top gear in the six speed box? And how much would that cost if you're having it serviced anyway? Jonathan
  7. TTBOMK the standard factory ratios in the Type 9 have always been: 3.36 1.81 1.26 1.00 0.82 But there are mentions of a close ratio option with ??? straight cut gears. Jonathan
  8. A clever or simple solution may depend on your reasons for having it. Agreed. That's why I asked... Jonathan
  9. ... what, if anything, is the advantage to changing to flexible hoses? It feels all wrong that the safety critical pipes and junctions undergo mechanical loads without some flexibility. But I have no idea how often it causes a problem in practice. Previous discussion. Jonathan
  10. I was thinking spray oil to remove the glue... IIRC WD-40 is as good as proprietary glue removers, but you could do a comparative trial... Jonathan
  11. Users can't delete posts (or threads). But we can change the Subject and body text (as you have done above) so that all of the responses are made in one thread. Jonathan
  12. Hope you enjoy the build as much as I did. Recent discussion of this question. ... so thought I'd turn to the forum for support, hope you don't mind especially at this early stage. :-) Jonathan
  13. Afternoon all, I'm using the above for an electrical supply for the fuel pump and I'm trying to work out if it is polarity conscious or not. ... The ones that I've seen are passive and don't care. ... But... I've just learned that some need to be inserted the right way round for the two fuses to work independently as intended. Jonathan
  14. I asked the factory if they knew of any disadvantages of flexible hoses for road cars. They didn't, and didn't mention any hints or precautions for changing to them. Jonathan
  15. So I know the float will give a full value, but when in situ it only gives 3/4 when full. Which way do I slightly bend the float....down or up? Sounds like progress. I'd now read John's discoveries from post #11 above. Jonathan
  16. I tried a LED in the indicator lamp position and it worked for one direction/turn only, clearly needed a new relay in the indicator circuit to make it work - now thinking this is a better solution than the illuminated toggle switch idea - but that is definitely more 'millennium falcon' Single telltale originally fitted with an incandescant lamp? That's probably because you have the factory circuit (or one of them) that passes the current through the telltale lamp in different directions depending on which way the switch is thrown! These can be identified by looking at the colour of the wires connected to the switch. The easiest solution to that might be to add two diodes and move the path from the telltale lamp to earth directly to earth. (Rather than through the entire indicator system on the wrong side!) Jonathan PS: A different flasher unit may be required with changing to LEDs for the turn indicator lamps themselves.
  17. Please send me a Private Mail with your email address and details of the Seven. Thanks Jonathan
  18. Currently recommended multimeter. And treat yourself to an additional pair of leads with croc clips. Jonathan
  19. There are lots of reports of happy outcomes of talking to Simon at Meteor Motorsport. Jonathan
  20. What Oliver says. + Colour. Cable intended for welders seems to be fashionable. NB: It isn't easy to make good terminations to thick cable without at least one of experience and the appropriate tool. If you're just replacing one that's a good reason to buy ready-made. Jonathan PS: All copper wire has pretty much the same resistance per meter for a given cross sectional area. Even in both directions to loudspeakers? ;-)
  21. What installation requirements would there be e.g. a resistor in parallel (size, type?) ? I've had a look at the information on their web site. It doesn't mention the need for an external resistor and I'd guess that it doesn't need one. But... Caterham have fitted several different types of warning lights and circuits for turn indicators. Some could be disrupted by LEDs. I recommend working out which you have before changing the switch or lamp(s). I went with an LED dash light cant really miss it especially at night no resistors needed Ditto. Jonathan PS: There are also smarter and louder audible warning improvements.
