  1. Thanks, Regin, Paul: Contact details for Pace technical support, and they list the kit for Caterham Ks. Jonathan
  2. I don't know the different types, but is it like the one with these instructions? Full search of the archives. Jonathan
  3. When I press the start button, it just makes a whining noise. If I turn the ignition switched off get out and and rock the Caterham back and forth in gear. Then then get back in press the starter button with the ignition on, the engine will start normally. I once had a Morris Minor with a bent starter motor shaft. It behaved just like that. I kept a spanner in the glove box to turn it a bit. I'd imagine that other faults in the Bendix drive or the engagement with the flywheel could do the same. So start with visible inspection of the starter motor and the teeth on the flywheel all the way round. ... I'd also check the battery voltage at rest, minimum during cranking when it does start, and at 3,000 rpm. And all of the relevant wires and connections including the earths. Jonathan
  4. EU2 1998 1800: Brown. And it sends its best wishes. ;-) Jonathan
  5. Well done, and thanks for the amswer. Jonathan
  6. Discussion from 2015. Full search of the archives. It would be great if someone could write a summary of all of the suggestions... Jonathan
  7. If you'd like a better diagram please send me a Private Message with your email address and details of the Seven. ... I definitely don't have a pat explanation. * Experts, please: could this be a version of a poorly earthed lamp driving another circuit, in this case the ignition? ... Here's what I'd do first: Check that all lamps are coming on fully bright, easiest in the dark.Get the light switch out and check that the connections are appropriate to the diagram and well-made. Disconnect the feed to the switch and confirm that the problem then disappears regardless of switch position. With the light switch connected pull each of the lighting fuses one by one and see if the problem disappears.Jonathan
  8. I have found 5l of Motul Inugel concentrate for €33 posted. Would you prefer that to the Comma at €29.59? Jonathan
  9. I haven't got an Android device to test but there have been a lot of recent posts about difficulties. Would using "Desktop mode/site" be relevant? Jonathan
  10. iOS or Android or something else? https://www.norauto.fr/produit/liquide-de-refroidissement-rose-30c-lescot-5-l_653268.html?CatalogID=48599&CatalogCategoryName=49156 Jonathan
  11. Comma on eBay France: 5L concentrate for €29.59. Jonathan
  12. Ha! That was on Amazon France at €31/ 5L, but it has just changed to: Il n’y a actuellement aucun vendeur en mesure de livrer ce produit sur votre zone géographique. ... This looks as if it might be the same as the Millers at Caterham Parts, but is very expensive. Millers Alpine antigel étendre Rouge Longlife 2 litres. ... How about going to a quasi Halfords and checking what they recommend for the K series in a Rover. Jonathan
  13. Yes, I use Comma XStream G30. Caterham Parts now offer Millers. I don't know how to match coolants by standards and specifications and colours are not consistent. It is an "OAT" and needs to be suitable for aluminium engines. It looks as if you can get the Comma stuff through Amazon France... is this price too high? Jonathan
  14. My first experience of getting an MOT for a Caterham is coming up. Have you found the advice on preparation? In addition to the usual for any vehicle: Handbrake cable adjustment.Recently applied brakes.Hot catalyst.Understanding which emissions test is appropriate. And I have my propshaft UJs greased while it's up on their ramp. Jonathan
  15. When you put the two filters side by side do they look identical... length of thread, axial distance from tip of thread to where it seals, type of seal? Any hint of thread damage? What happens when you refit the original filter? Jonathan
  16. Can you cross thread an oil filter? Yes. Jonathan
  17. Haven't heard of that. Any recent work? Do you have a wiring diagram and a multimeter? What sort of light and ignition switches do you have? And do you have a battery master switch? Jonathan
  18. Is the first time that it's had a filter or a replacement? Jonathan
  19. DOT 4. Factory recommendation was Comma but anything reputable should be OK I don't know the volume. On other Sevens it's said to be 500 or 750 mL. Jonathan PS: Have you found Steve Marsh's website and CSR document archive?
  20. This job is precisely one step too far for my abilities and confidence. I know that others feel the same. As an amateur I recognise that it's possible to lock it all up with a screwdriver but I'd be more confident with the tool. (And that's consistent across lots of tasks.) But the two most helpful steps would be: A Guide, including advice on all of the bits in the preceding postA visiting angel.Jonathan
