  1. Cut one from an electrical strip connector? Jonathan
  2. Yes, bike cables are widely used. "Solderless nipple"? A local bike shop might have some for you to choose from. Jonathan
  3. MotorSport: New Cars - Vauxhall Lotus Carlton, December 1990 Jonathan
  4. The relevant terms don’t come up using a search of the PDF documents annoyingly. Some Assembly Guide pdfs are text-searchable and some aren't. I've never worked out why. Jonathan
  5. Sorry. Well spotted, Andrew. Jonathan
  6. No need to drain but you might lose a bit, so I'd have some ready to top-up. Do you have a filling and bleeding method that works for your Seven? Jonathan
  7. The figures from the 1998 Assembly Guide... and the observation that other figures are available. Jonathan
  8. i suggested disconnecting the lambda sensor as a step towards making a diagnosis rather than a way of getting home. Jonathan
  9. Im fairly new to the club and dont know how to post pics... There are now three methods: two to upload and one to link to images on a remote server. Start with the Forum User Guide and let us know if you get stuck. Jonathan
  10. Thanks, got it. Pivot pins as shown! How about a power supply to charge devices? Jonathan
  11. Is that rigidly fixed now? Jonathan
  12. History and technical details on Wikipedia. I've always thought of it as Lotus showing the world how to make a muscle car. And the reviews when it was launched convinced me that it worked. Jonathan
  13. Previous discussions: "Stripping Ital axle... " looks good. I've got the 1988 Assembly Guide: let me know if you'd like a copy. Jonathan
  14. From what I've read in other discussions it can help to disconnect the lambda sensor and see if that affects the running. ... and they now do a upgrade Lambda for the 620 including a remap to sort the issue... I can't find a reference to that in the archives. Jonathan
  15. Because EVANs doesn't expand... Is the bulk expansion lower than water + ethylene glycol? Jonathan
  16. ...and this is another interesting artcle from another Waterless coolant manufacturer http://www.norosion.com/evanstest.htm I don't think that No-Rosion is waterless. Isn't it a corrosion inhibitor for traditional coolants? Jonathan
  17. Dave: Your iPhones will take a video clip. If you're interested please send me a Private Message and we'll get it up and linked. Jonathan
  18. One other odd thing is the heater is virtually ineffective. This I put down the viscosity. Are you sure that the valve is opening and that there isn't any air in there? Jonathan
  19. Thanks. Interesting comment about the viscosity from the pump supplier. We've known that it is more viscous but not that it causes problems in practice. Flammability and thermal capacity both discussed extensively above. Engines can run 45-60°C hotter (at the cylinder heads) with Waterless products. I haven't seen an estimate of that before. Stabilized coolant temps are increased by 15-25°C, versus straight water with Water Wetter. The elevated engine and coolant temperature is acknowledged by the manufacturer and supplier. That difference is higher than they quote but that makes sense because they usually compare it with the traditional mixture of water and ethylene glycol rather than water. Jonathan
  20. Is your device among those listed here? Jonathan
  21. Same thoughts as above. You could do a factory reset and software update. There's a pretty active TomTom forum. Jonathan
  22. If you measure the external dimensions we can probably work out what you've got. There's general satisfaction with the PC680 and that's what I have on my 1800 K. It's unlikely that you've got anything smaller but it's possible, I wouldn't use an unsealed battery. Jonathan
  23. Which model of Powervamp? What's the battery voltage at rest, minimum during cranking and at 3,000 rpm? I'd recommend checking all of the relevant cables and connections, including earths. That "Ah" value measures the energy stored in the battery, not the peak current it can deliver during starting. That's described by various measures of which "CCA" is probably the most common. Jonathan PS: Today's summary of batteries for Sevens!
  24. Current summary Lithium batteries Light and therefore Sevenesque. Experience now accumulating: please add yours here. CTEK and probably others now offer smart conditioning chargers with apppropriate specific modes. Replacing the factory Banner with the same No need to change tray or leads. Tayna highly recommended as a supplier. They do send them filled and charged. Make sure you get the correct model... their website might lead you to an Exide! Check the fluid level as part of your routine. (I don't like unsealed batteries.) Powervamp Most experience is with the PC680. May need to change leads and fettle tray. Neat replacement cage available from Powervamp, sometimes bundled. Available from the manufacturer, and from Euro Car Parts. Discussion of the PC535 which is probably similar but fits the original tray and available from Euro Car Parts and from Tayna. These are AGM not gel batteries. Others Some good experiences with a range of others. Jonathan
  25. First sentence of Sonnet 116, innit? :-) Jonathan
