  1. Thanks, all. Any more contributions... otherwise I'll conclude that there isn't a rule or guidance. Not that there should or shouldn't be, only that there isn't currently. Jonathan
  2. I don't know the best way to localise the fault. I'd start with inspecting the output and angle drive at the gearbox and looking for looseness and general wear. There's a very recent thread where I posted an exploded diagram... but I can't find it. In that same thread there's a mention of putting a drill on the gearbox end of the cable and seeing what happens. But I haven't done that since about 1973 and can't remember the details. Speedometers are surprisingly repairable. Jonathan
  3. What sort is it: mechanical drive from the gearbox, electronic drive from the gearbox, electronic drive from a rear wheel? All other instruments OK? Jonathan
  4. It was Christmas Day in the harem... Moustache/ spreader bar. Jonathan
  5. Ford or BMW? Previous discussions. John Vine's sequence. Jonathan
  6. ... and the fuel gauge will not go past the 1/2 full mark. As above on the sender, and there's a very helpful thread on the subject. Exemplary detective work from John Vine, and don't be put off by the title... it does get to the float. But I'd start by looking at the gauge reading with the sender disconnected and then shorted... is it reading full scale empty and full? That should rule out some electrical faults. Jonathan
  7. There have been a few instances of public comments made by third parties which might be perceived as detrimental to the original poster's interests. What's the etiquette on this, please? Thanks Jonathan
  8. As currently discussed: is the guidance available anywhere? Is it a rule or only advice? Thanks Jonathan
  9. I can see nobody is in agreement with me. I wouldn't assume that merely because no-one has agreed in the public forums. Jonathan
  10. Welcome, Simon. I couldn't see a way to upload a non picture file... It is possible, see eg the Bolt List. It should also work by linking to the file on an external server, as in the Forum User Guide. Jonathan
  11. From previous discussions: Yes, Titon have withdrawn. All of the major suppliers will make them the way round you want, even if that isn't advertised. My current Titon are pull down. In theory I'd prefer pull up but on my previous factory Lukes that placed the adjuster just behind the edge of the seat and it didn't move easily. Jonathan
  12. Have some pics but unsure how to post them on here..... There are now three methods: two to upload and one to link to images on another server. Start with the Forum User Guide, and let us know where you get stuck. If you're not sure which method to use I suggest the simpler upload. Jonathan
  13. Those voltages are current rather than the original test? What’s the terminal pattern and what wires are connected? Is the lamp an LED or incandescent? Jonathan
  14. Robin: Do you already have the fitting notes from the Assembly Guide? John: Do you know of an exploded diagram etc of the mechanical drive with the right-angled adaptor, please? Anything better than the one below? It has been suggested that the guage might need repairing, but the quill or cable would be a lot cheaper! Could be any of them, but it's a speedometer so I'd follow John Vine's advice. :-) Jonathan

All other instruments and electrics working? Jonathan
  17. "standard" or "Standard"? ;-) Is the current axle Ital or Ford? "Max Power through a Live Axle"Article written for Low Flying on replacing an Ital axle with a FordJonathan
  18. Lots in the archives. (A summary or Guide would be very helpful... ) Jonathan
  19. Can you make it happen in the garage? All exposed belts and pulleys and alternator OK? Jonathan
  20. That would be very interesting: "Blue Seven, Red Tape"? Jonathan

  22. Is that NNK10001? There are some on eBay that say it's "M10*1.5". ... But now that I have a possible part number I found this thread which suggests both M10 x 1.5 and M10 x 1.25! Jonathan
