  1. The windscreen wiper stalks are uncovered, can anyone recommend what to do with them short of removing the whole assembly. I've seen quiet rubber shrouds and... brightly coloured toys. Jonathan
  2. Tape the edge of the floor as well? Jonathan
  3. Easy to deal with, but haven't claimed, which is why they can only be Recommended. I negotiated a single deal for the total number of days, then the week before each event told them the details of the drivers. And I choose to have a very high excess: basically the cover is for stuff I couldn't fix myself. Jonathan PS: For others... if you're the only driver there are cheaper options with combined road and track policies, as described in the Seven Insurance thread.
  4. That's exactly how I do it, largely so that I can add family and friends. Most recently with MORIS, details in the Seven Insurance thread. Recommended. Jonathan
  5. For those who aren't using a chemical threadlocker please could you say what you are using: Copper grease on the thread? Any washers of any sort? 20 or 25 Nm?Same on the top bolt? Thanks Jonathan
  6. What's the thing like a salt shaker or dustbin that they don't want you to use? Jonathan
  7. I hadn't heard of it and can't find a reference in the archives. Suggestion that the Caterham press car is a Lamborghini colour, in which case it might be here. Recent discussion of oranges, with hints on matching in my postscript. Jonathan
  8. Recent discussion of torque wrenches (includes full search of the archives). Jonathan
  9. Caterham are now supplying 42 mm hub nuts. Any offers of a socket for the Register? Thanks Jonathan
  10. Very helpful. Thanks. Any change to the recommended torque? Jonathan PS: Who's going to be first to add a 42 mm socket to the Equipment for Loan Register?
  11. It's at the top for me with: https://www.google.com/search?q=site:lotus7.club+supersport+cam+lift. Jonathan
  12. According to Wikipedia that's a KC-135 with J57s using water injection at take off. Jonathan
  13. Previous discussions: Ballistic orangeAll orange!Jonathan PS: We often fail to identify paint codes, ending with: "Talk to Tony".Skilled painters will match off the car rather than the code.
  14. No, but you can work it out by either: Identifying the colours of the wires connected to each terminal, orLABELLING THE CURRENT CONNECTIONS CAREFULLY then disconnecting everything, switching your multimeter to resistance or continuity and testing which terminals are connected to each other as you select the switch positions. The terminal that's always connected to one or other of the others is the input terminal.Jonathan PS: Thanks, John. PPS: I rotated my switch 180° from the way it came from the factory. Seemed more natural.
  15. (a) a faulty dip switch I interpreted the voltage readouts as showing no feed to the main/dip switch. Happy to be wrong again if it speeds the solution. Jonathan
  16. See if it's well seated before you pull it (crossed with Ian's). Then pull it out and have a good look at the body and the terminals. And the exposed base into which it was plugged. If one of the other relays is identical you can swap that in. Jonathan
  17. Well done. That looks as if there's no feed to the main/dip switch. Assuming that you had a good look at the connection to that switch now check the relay as above. Layout is probably: Jonathan
  18. Is it the same as the one in CTRMint's blog, which includes: "As Caterham Cars don't provide any documentation... " and this recent thread? Happy New Year Jonathan
  19. Can you confirm that the failure occurred before you started taking the headlamps apart? Thanks Jonathan PS: I wouldn't change the lamps until I knew that everything was working.
  20. Engine off, ignition off, but battery connected. For each of the voltage tests you need to select a suitable DC voltage range, something like 0 to 25 V. Add a photo of the meter if you can't see how to do that. Then put one of the meter probes on a good earth, and the other on the terminal or wire that you are testing. The display should read something like 12 V wherever you want power. Practise on the battery terminals to see that display as you touch the probes on. Jonathan
  21. Did they used to operate normally? Any recent work nearby? ... Do you have a multimeter and a wiring diagram? If you'd like the latter please send me a Private Message with your email address and details of the Seven. ... Amended following #17 below. Inspect the wiring and connection on the headlamp terminal of the three way switch... is it connected?Check voltage on the output terminals as the switch positions are selected. If 1 and 2 seem OK check that the light relay(s) is well seated and doesn't appear cooked or bulgy and that the terminals aren't damaged. Then swap it for another and test the headlamps.Inspect the wiring and connection on all of the terminals on the main/dip switch... are they connected? Then the voltage at the input terminal. Then the same on each of the two output terminals as the switch positions are selected.... Happy New Year Jonathan
