  1. I read somewhere there's a special low profile socket you can use which I'll dig out. I don't know, please post the details if you can find one. I don't have the kit to grind down a normal one! Where are you? I'm pretty sure that someone helpful will be nearby... Jonathan
  2. Always good advice. Can someone let me know what pads I need to replace them? Can't find this information in my searches. Lots in the archives, but no agreement. 1144 Jonathan
  3. :-) Good time to run those three voltage checks, so that you can easily spot deterioration. Jonathan
  4. Well done. Private Message sent. Jonathan
  5. The Handbooks have this, NB it's a different tacho: Jonathan
  6. That tacho is on the Caterham Parts site but I can't find it in a Handbook or Assembly Guide. Jonathan
  7. Duratec engine, it was Raceline's development car originally! Aha! I suggest identifying all of the wires and how they are connected at the alternator... layout, colours and whether each is thick or thin. I have a pic of the tacho, but need to look up how to upload it... Start with the Forum User Guide, and let us know if you get stuck. Jonathan PS: I suspect that the mystery light is the unused ECU warning light... or dampness indicator.
  8. Tacho has 3 lights across the bottom. Left is main beam. Middle is indicator and Right doesn't seem to do anything...yet!! There's a fourth light at the top that also doesn't do anything ... Can you add photos of the instrument and the whole dash, please. Jonathan
  9. Which engine? Has this ever worked and just stopped, or never worked? Any recent work on the car? Check all of the connections at the alternator: look and wiggle. Is there a Brown/ Yellow wire? Do you have a multimeter? Jonathan
  10. Moss might have a repair kit which includes the boot, something like this but I don't know if that's right for yours. I'd email them with the AP part number. Ditto Rimmer Bros. Previous references to that part number in the archives. Jonathan
  11. I wouldn't put stands or jacks in the middle of chassis tubes. Previous discussions. There's a vast amount in there, but only one serious difference of opinion, and that's about the front cruciform. Guide: Jacking Up a Seven. Would you like a copy of the Assembly Guide, which has notes on this? Jonathan
  12. The Powerlite PS-20 has been mentioned in a couple of threads. Powerlite's own page, including data sheets. 20 Ah CC(A) 630A Mass 2.4 kg Their price is £210 including a charger. Jonathan
  13. Might it be repairable? That could be cheaper, and also means that it will fit the existing brackets and cables. Jonathan
  14. There's a bridge? :-) Jonathan
  15. ... backed up by Ford advice that I can no longer find! Was that advice for a Zetec? But the nomenclature of recent Ford engines is very confusing. Jonathan
  16. Recent discussion. Jonathan
  17. I've not done anything to the car in a while or been here for even longer! This morning I took the boot floor out, with ease! Morphic resonance? Jonathan
  18. Racks are Titan, who wont normally sell you parts as its a Caterham part....... and Caterham arent interested in stocking the parts.. ... I'm sure I read in the archives it shares parts with the mk 1 lotus elise rack and there was a set of repair instructions available. ... Yes, lots in the archives. That's why we need those wikis. But as second best:https://www.google.com/search?q=site:lotus7.club+rack+titanhttps://www.google.com/search?q=site:lotus7.club+rack+eliseRebuild notes from SELOC.Jonathan
  19. I was going to quote "death and taxes". :-) Jonathan
  20. Alcohol marker works just fine Neat. I'll try that. Jonathan PS: Most commonly "permanent marker" in British English.
