  4. I'll get on to Tayna and see what they say about a warranty return. That's what I'd do. And she has a reputation for being very helpful. Jonathan
  5. Well done. Thanks for the update. Comments gave me enough confidence that this might be something I could solve with brute force! That effect deserves a name. Knowing that you're turning the right way and wearing those big gloves often seem to make things work when they they wouldn't before. Jonathan
  6. Have you (can you) checked the fluid levels? Yes the chemistry is similar, but the optimisation is different. The unloaded voltage of a charged cell carries little information... until it gets as low as that one. But once loaded I'd expect the voltage of the knackered cell to drop way below the others. If you want a bit more life out of the battery and it's not a crucial application you could try the magic tablets. Jonathan
  7. Can you reproduce the fault while you're working on the car, not just on the road? Jonathan
  8. No need for any details of the Seven. We'll sort out the car's diagram by email. ... The button. And that Amazon page has identification of the terminals and various wiring methods in the gallery of photos. Jonathan
  9. Do you already have the factory wiring diagram for your Seven? If you'd like a copy please send me a Private Message with your email address and details of the Seven. Then choose the button you want to use and post the details here. Do you have a battery master switch? Jonathan PS: If you're bypassing the immobiliser you might want to tell your insurer.
  10. Cable arrived this morning. I won't be going for snap, crackle and pop So it's not a serial cable? :-) Jonathan

  12. Haven't seen reports of that, and didn't find anything on a quick check of the archives. Can you add a photo? Jonathan
  13. Edited: Crossed posts. That's here. :-) Jonathan
  14. Has anyone else had this problem... Previous discussions ... and what is the solution? "Send three and fourpence, we're going to a dance", as above. Jonathan

  21. Glad I asked! The rev counter problem then could be related. All other instruments working OK? Any recent work? Do you have a multimeter and the appropriate wiring diagram? Let me know if you need the latter. The drill trick should work once you've got the sender unit out. NB ignition on. Servicing the inside of an instrument would be well beyond me if it was anything but a disconnection. Might be something like £70 for an inspection and simple fix. Jonathan PS: Burton Power used to have an improved sender but I can't remember if that was mechanical or electrical.
