  1. "I did find a purple/Yellow disconnected wire near the fuse box. Wonder where it is supposed to be connected?" Purple/Yellow is often "Horn to horn relay". Do you know if the horn is original, and does it work? Jonathan
  2. "I wrote a RaceX review for LF a few years ago." And here it is. Jonathan
  3. Inspecting the connectors and wiring at the alternator is always a good idea. But I wouldn't expect a fault there to take out all of the instruments... Jonathan
  4. Any work done or changes made before this happened? What sort of ignition system does it have? It sounds as if you're losing electrical supply to the ignition system and the gauges. So check connections at the battery and the battery and engine earths and have a look at the ignition switch and its connections. Wiggle each while the engine is running and see if you can reproduce the problem. If you can't then inspect, wiggle, disconnect, clean, reconnect. Have you got a multimeter and would you like the wiring diagrams? Jonathan
  5. Just checked on a Caerbont Caterham rev counter: M4. Jonathan
  6. I wouldn't assume it's the same thread on all instruments... ... but you can get them in several sizes here on Ebay. Jonathan
  7. There's a vast amount on hearing protection in the archives: products, experiences, problems. Including a fair bit on noise cancellation. Anyone fancy knocking it into a Guide? Jonathan
  8. This sounds right to me. As above I'm not convinced by the composition of the coolant as being the cause because: 1 It doesn't seem to fit chemically. 2 We don't hear about leaks becoming more and more common over time. (But of course this is all anecdotal.) And apart from that I'd still optimise the coolant for the engine rather than the radiator. Geoff has made the point about the physical location of the radiator. It needs to be mechanically unstressed, and this might require bending the support brackets, enlarging some holes, and packing with washers. Persuade anything except the radiator. Jonathan
  9. Yes, but in my case... "they", as I'm up on the lift. And they have their own grease gun! :-) Jonathan
  10. That's encouraging. Was there any moisture down there? Jonathan
  11. Thanks for the answer. Sounds like progress. What's showing between the radius arm mounting and the spring/ damper mounting? Is it a crack? Jonathan
  12. There's quite a lot in the archives on problems with the fork, but I've never been able to work out which are at risk. Jonathan
  13. The 1988 Assembly Guide has fitting notes for that and this diagram: If anyone would like a copy please let me know. Jonathan
  14. 1 The wells in which the spark plugs sit. 2 The lambda sensor. Experts, please: is this one of the situations in which disconnecting it as a test is a sensible tactic? Jonathan
  15. 1/4" UNF... or M6 1.0mm! How about removing the one that's there and measuring it? https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/long-grease-nipple-prop-shaft-uj https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/grease-nipple-snapped-propshaft-uj https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/standard-prop-uj-bearing-grease-nipple-thread Jonathan
  16. Me too, but without the RaceX logo. Works OK, but I've never checked it against anything. ... AutoExpress: "Best digital tyre pressure gauge 2020" Jonathan
  17. Thanks. Someone's going to need that information someday... Jonathan
  18. Is Purple/Red switched with the ignition? And is Red/White switched with the sidelamps? Thanks Jonathan
  19. I don't know what determined which Sevens were wired for a rear accessory supply. Some have been found by scrabbling around... Jonathan
  20. Green/Purple sounds like the brake lights. That could be the installed wiring for a high-level brake light rather than a power socket. Jonathan PS: If you use it to power the intercom you could explain why you're braking... :-)
