  1. Lighting up on failure is brilliant(!). You can also get resettable circuit breakers in the same form factor as Seven fuses. And piggyback fuses can be a neat way of adding circuits. Jonathan
  2. "Am I correct in thinking that I just need to change the headlamp glasses and then get a garage to realign the headlamps?" You can do it pretty well yourself with a wall. And if you mark the wall with your current lamps you can then reproduce that the other way round with the new ones. The MOT station that I go to adjusts them using the official testing machine, but that depends on a collaborative attitude! "I guess that putting some form of sealant on the chrome rims that secure the glass is a reasonable approach to waterproofing. Do you have any suggestion for a suitable sealant?" I think that most owners don't use anything, as above. And rust inside the bowl doesn't seem to be a common problem. Jonathan
  3. "Preparation is the key to bonding. This may sound agricultural but the powder coated surface needs to be cross cut with the edge of a triangular file enough to form a gripping surface. Then a thorough de greasing before laying the adhesive. Use the adhesive straight out of the tube, no spout, to lay down a good bed. Lightly abrading the wing contact surface also helps." I agree that preparation is crucial (and appreciated the pun!). That sounds as if you use a sandwich of adhesive between the wing and the stay rather than a sausage roll around the stay. Is that right? Thanks Jonathan
  4. Nice work. The first image comes out at high resolution. I think that the last might have been compressed in the shortcut upload. If anyone needs the layout of fuses and/or relays for their car please let me know. There are some surprising variations, and one layout isn't documented... but was sorted by the collective power of BlatChat. Jonathan
  5. Which gearbox is this? Jonathan For the Caterham six speed box the best two threads I can find are: "Which 6 speed gearbox oil?" (2001) "Caterham 6 speed gearbox oil" (2018)
  6. Does it match anything in the Speedometer Guide? Jonathan
  7. Please send me a Private Message with your email address and I'll send a wiring diagram. Jonathan
  8. The first thing I'd check is that the connection from the alternator to the warning lamp is correctly connected at the alternator. That's usually a Brown/Yellow wire. What sort of alternator is it, and do you have the terminal layout? Is it an EU3 ECU? Would you like a Caterham wiring diagram for the Seven? And do you know if the warning lamp was ever changed from an incandescant lamp to an LED? Jonathan
  9. If you want to test your battery I suggest measuring the voltage: At restMinimum during crankingAt 3,000 rpm.Jonathan
  10. "I've read on other posts that the throttle position sensor can be reset on stardard ECUs by turning ignition on, pushing and releasing throttle 5 times, then ignition off. I've tried looking elsewhere if this will work on my Emerald, but not found anything. Will it?" Full search of the archives... the truth is out there... Jonathan
  11. As above on size. There's a lot of experience and advice in the archives, but it's difficult to answer until you're a bit further in deciding what you'd like: better halogen bulbs, better sealed halogen units, LED "bulbs" or whole LED units. So a bit chicken and egg: have you got a way of searching the archives and Guides that works for you? The factory bulb fitting is H4. Gotchas... that depends on whether you need to thread any new wiring through the stay. Do you know what's acceptable to the Maltese regulations and inspections? Please let me know if you'd like an Assembly Guide and wiring diagram. Jonathan
  12. Green/ Purple should be brake lights, and Black an earth. Do you have a multimeter, and would you like a wiring diagram? Jonathan
  13. What colour are the wires? Jonathan PS: Unused cables in the boot are likely to be for either an additional brake light or an accessory power supply. An instrument light feed has also been spotted.
  14. The component above the spade connector covers? Jonathan
  15. I'd remove it and try again. Some hints. Jonathan
  16. There's a set of related tasks. 1 Searching for the thread or post: A thread about thisMy favourite method2 Getting the URL of a thread: Easiest done by copying and pasting what's in the browser's display.3 Getting the URL of an individual post: Easiest done by clicking the post number, eg #5 and then copying and pasting what's in the browser's display.4 Creating a link to one of those URLs: Use this tool in the menu bar of the Reply dialog box: You can either display some anchor text which acts as the hyperlink to the URL or display the URL itself. The tool to the right of that one removes a URL, but is dimmed until something suitable has been selected.Jonathan
  17. "... there is previous threads on this in the archives but i don't know how to link it up to this." Happy to help, but probably better if we practise in another thread. Where do you get stuck: finding the threads, finding their URLs, or creating links to them? Jonathan Big Head fasteners
