  1. Hi, AlanO. Please click on Search Facility and I'll see you over there. Jonathan
  2. That's with the new type of sensor? Which guidance are you referring to? The Club's Technical Guide recommends 0.6 to 0.7 mm. Jonathan
  3. Hi, Paul It seems to be speedometer season. 1 Any recent work on the car? 2 The wonderful Speedometer Guide: • Check the gap. • Is the light flashing when you turn the wheel by hand? 3 I have the wiring diagram for the Seven, and the factory Workshop Notices for the wiring modification. Please send me a Private Message with your email address if you'd like these. Jonathan
  4. "Any thoughts?" Yes: seek out controlled trials and what was measured in them. Jonathan
  5. Could you add some photos of your layout and the position of the leaks, please, Colin? Thanks Jonathan
  6. Hi, Stuart. Where are you? Have you found the Equipment Register? And would you like a (dis) Assembly Guide? Jonathan
  7. "Mine does exactly this too, but usually after being used hard, ie trackday, Curborough etc, and recovers randomly several days later. "Did sprint school at Curborough and it wouldn't start for the last run of the day. Got it home and circa 2 hours later wouldn't start. Wouldn't start following day. 3 days later I walked past it in the garage, pressed the red button and it started immediately. Mine is a K series, immobilser gone as it caased other issues but being replaced with something modern and better. " Do you want to explore this, Ed? Jonathan
  8. It will, Kris, it will. : - ) Jonathan
  9. There are three trusted suppliers of silicone hoses, and at least one offers a Club discount. Jonathan
  10. "this could be something to do with the ecu. I've just had the premier power upgrade with a new ecu. it was working when I took it down and wasn't when I picked it up. Could be something to do with this?" Yes Jonathan
  11. "Jonathan's guide covers all you need to know. " Thanks, but as so often, I'm only the monkey. Thanks to the organ grinders, please. : - ) Jonathan
  12. Or... find someone with both a similar instrument and a large dollop of helpfulness... Jonathan
  13. I can't remember the characteristics of the signal from the sensor, but the next step should be to test for that signal wherever you can get access between the sensor and the instrument. If you'd like a wiring diagram please send me a Private Message with your email address. Jonathan
  14. The gauge can fail, and they are fixable: Speedometer and Instrument Repairs. But other faults are more likely. I'd start with the Speedometer Guide... 1 Check the gap 2 Is the little light flashing reliably? 3 Are all other instruments working normally? 4 Any recent work on the car? There is a Workshop Notice with improved wiring. That's described in the Guide. Jonathan
  15. "I'd say no, there is some additional length present, around 2cm of excess, so a little tricky to trim. Making it too short might cause the hose to get dangerously close the belt too. I can see your thinking, but given the stiffness of the wall I'm very doubtful reducing the length would render that much of an improvement." ... "Your top hose is designed for the earlier rad, and that enforced extra bend means the hose is under permanent tension." ... ChrisC: "You do know CC have changed the top hose to be more flexible by reducing the wall thickness? Found that out late 2019 early 2020, since then all the hoses have been changed. The new hoses have a different finish and use the new logo." ... From the first two of those I was going to recommend cutting the hose so that it was relaxed, and if that didn't decrease the vibration then fitting a length of that axially compressible hose somewhere in the run. But ChrisC's observation offers an alternative solution. Jonathan
  16. How to Remove Drive Shaft from LSD? Jonathan
  17. Mine's a 1998 1800K. After they rebuilt the engine Ratrace recommended 98 octane petrol, although I don't know why. I follow their advice. I wouldn't worry about using E10 fuel in it. But I do consider the fuel line in Sevens to be at risk of wearing out, and there's lots of support for that in the archives... I'm not aware of any evidence of either safety or effectiveness for that sort of additive, and I wouldn't use it. Jonathan
  18. Quite a lot of values in the archives, it would be great if someone could write a summary: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:lotus7.club+spring+rate+live Jonathan
  19. Thanks for the update. And glad it's fixed. Jonathan
  20. "Need to tweak the accel for toe/heel." For the loud pedal there is the repositioning as described in the Assembly Guide, bending of the shaft, which is often assisted by a screwdriver, and as a last resort adding a block on top, which is what I've done. Jonathan
  21. "I noticed this evening there is still a significant amount of vibration being absorb by the rad, not from the chassis mounts, but the large diameter stiff hose at the top. Holding that you can feel most of the vibration at tick over in that hose, rather than the chassis. I'm wondering whether I should try and swap to a silicon hose, maybe cut the stiff hose and use an insert to extend into a silicon hose, which might suppress more of the vibrations." Thanks for the photo. Is that long fat hose ordinary black rubber throughout? If you remove one end does the other end sit nicely for length: so that it isn't compressed when connected at both ends? Is the smaller hose running across it at the bend bearing on it? Jonathan PS: I've looked at the usual suppliers of silicone hoses for something like a bellows section but not found anything yet.
  22. Tim: I think that the alterations that you are suggesting have already been done, although by bolting rather than welding. Jonathan
  23. Can you add some photos of that hose and area, please. Jonathan
