  1. "... replaced a faulty hazard warning switch" In that case I'd include a look at the wiring and contacts at the lamp unit in the first round of checks. And test the bulb while you're there. Jonathan
  2. I'm away from my library, but this thread (!) has "special M12 x 65mm" and some discussion: https://www.lotus7.club/comment/2330658#comment-2330658 Jonathan PS: Please let me know if you'd like a copy of the Assembly Guide.
  3. It's an unusual circuit. And there are several known vulnerabilities in Sevens, including the variety of alternators and problems when the warning light is an LED rather than an incandescant. Check all of the connections at the alternator and try to find the Brown/Yellow wire. Measure the battery voltage at rest, minimum during cranking, and at 3,000 rpm, and post the values. The last of those will check whether the alternator is charging properly. Jonathan
  4. Good morning. What model of Seven? Is it a lamp in the rev counter, or a separate lamp unit in the dash? Do you have a wiring diagram and a multimeter? Has it ever worked? Does everything else work fine? Any recent work on the car? Jonathan
  5. "Any tips on cutting the hole in the body (tools and technics used?)" IIRC there are reports in the archives using hole drills and Dremels with cutting discs. Followed by edge deburring. All successful but often nerve-racking, as above. Usual safety precautions. Jonathan
  6. "... as a novice its not easy to decipher, just lots of random letters and numbers with no key!" I don't think that anyone finds them as easy to use as full-circuit diagrams. Caterham generally stick to British "standard wiring colours". So having a copy of that open alongside can help when you're working between the diagram and the car. And you can spot the same numerical identifier on the diagram at both ends. But sometimes that identifier changes on either side of a connector so you have to find the relevant connector layout to get the new identifier for the continuation. Then there's BlatChat! : - ) Jonathan PS: The latest diagram that I know is the same that John mentions above. But I have a vast collection of others and Assembly Guides going back to 1988, available to all Members.
  7. Thanks for adding the outcome. I hope that you enjoy the build as much as I did, Jonathan
  8. To my surprise I can't find the thread size... anyone? (Not the tool size, not the BMW diff, not the gearbox plug... ) Thanks Jonathan
  9. Please could I have a copy of the CAD file in case anyone needs it in the future? Thanks Jonathan
  10. "No idea why every photo I post up on this site rotates either 180 degrees or 90?" Why it happens. How to avoid it on iPhones and iPads. Jonathan PS: Which way would you like that one rotated? :-)
  11. Hi, Anker I think that the joint that you have exposed is called a "tripode". I've never been in there myself but these threads might help: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:lotus7.club+tripode Hope you're fixed soon. Jonathan
  12. Quite a lot in the archives, on both inlets and exhausts. Jonathan
  13. Full search of the archives. Some discussion from 2014 with quotes for cover. And from 2017: "In the end I settled on Footman James who were helpful, enthusiastic & the cheapest. £200 fully comp for the build which can be transferred to road mode when required. Bizarrely the cost for 'on the road' is slightly cheaper than the build insurance... so I'll get a rebate, even the broker couldn't explain & put it down to an 'IT glitch'... Most expensive were Reis who were nearer £400-00." Jonathan
  14. There's a few previous discussions, and I'll have a look. IIRC the most useful action was to talk to your insurer, just as Richard advises. Jonathan PS: Only one extinguisher? I have one on each exit route! :-)
  15. I should have said... my sister has an ID.3 and has chosen a Pod Point charger. As has my niece for their Tesla Model 3. Jonathan
  16. Thanks, Tom. Very happy so far. Jonathan
  17. There's quite a bit in the archives, but it's scattered; https://www.google.com/search?q=site:lotus7.club+ar1 With a very quick search I didn't find anything on pressures... Jonathan
  18. "We ordered a VW ID3 last week. I'll let you know when it arrives in 6 months!" My daughter has just had hers delivered. First car that she's owned. I'd be interested in your decision on what charging unit to have at home. Thanks Jonathan
  19. M10- threaded sender for sale. Check which way round it works! Jonathan
  20. As above. "Engine is a crossflow 1700 in a 1991 S3 SuperSprint." "Anybody know the model number of the sending unit?" The first step is to determine the thread size: https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/crossflow-oil-pressure-sender-0 https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/crossflow-oil-pressure-sender-thread-size which include Roger King's advice. Please let us know when you've established that. Jonathan
  21. Sorry for the slow response... I was a bit busy at the time. ; - ) Jonathan
  22. The 2015 Assembly Guide only goes up to the 420, but for all models has: Jonathan
  23. "To get some made up, it seems that a CAD file would be needed? I've no idea how that works." We'd need someone to create a sketch with dimensions, and someone to do the CAD. Those could be the same person. The CAD is widely available on a commercial basis but IIRC when this has come up before we've had Members who have offered. There might be something relevant in the threads about 3D printing. Jonathan
  24. What's the history of the car? And any recent work on it? Does it have a battery cut-off switch? Is the alternator behaving normally... measure battery voltage at rest, minimum during cranking, and at 3,000 rpm. Does the warning light behave normally? If you disconnect the fan(s) when it happens does the engine stop? Jonathan
