  1. Or borrow? : - ) Jonathan
  2. A few in the archives: /forum/where-place-pads-when-lifting-2-post-lift /forum/techtalk/lift-idea /forum/techtalk/garage-lifts-possibility-damaging-chassis A summary and some photos would be very helpful... Jonathan
  3. "Can I assume that a 1996 Supersport will be 41mm? "Is the front the same? I have the 1996 Assembly Guide. Please let me know if you'd like a copy. Jonathan
  4. "Can I assume that a 1996 Supersport will be 41mm?" ... "My 2009 car was 41 mm and my 2017 car is 42 mm" ... I've just looked through some Assembly Guides. I can't find a reference to 42 mm nuts before 2017. Jonathan
  5. Yes. More photographs of beam patterns would be very helpful. I recommend taking them when only one side has been changed so that the left-right comparisons show Before and After. But if that isn't possible then with colour balance and exposure locked so that the camera isn't trying as hard as it can to hide the difference! Jonathan
  6. It would be great if someone could summarise all of this in a Guide. As Alcester Racing Sevens did for the Ford Type 5. Jonathan
  7. "I just don't want the MoT man saying that (as sidelights) they're too bright." I think that is very unlikely: the Inspection Manual. and see Section 4.2. Jonathan PS: There are no recorded instances of failing on LED replacement "bulbs", and at least two inspectors have said that they won't be looking for them.
  8. Same as the ones discussed here? I'd ask both JAL and Classic Car LEDs what they recommend. Jonathan
  9. While we're waiting for confirmation about there being a drain plug or not... ... on most gearboxes you can remove the oil with a pump and a flexible pipe from above. Several recommendations in the archives. And much easier if the oil is warm. Jonathan
  10. I've got the factory wiring diagram if anyone would like a copy. Jonathan
  11. "Is the problem with the instrument illumination in general, or the brightness of warning lights (most obviously the high beam light)?" Ah... I assumed it was the warning lights. Good question. Jonathan
  12. With LEDs the most common current (!) fix is sticking a sticker in the way. Some people use a bit of sticky tape but you can buy purpose-built stickers! Recent discussion. Jonathan (David White's solution)
  13. Have you spotted the three Club discounts? Previous discussions and recommendations. Jonathan
  14. How about a comparison photo of the beam when you've done one side, please? Jonathan PS: "I wonder what genius designed the headlight fitting on a Mk5 Mondeo, where, to change a bulb, you first have to remove the front bumper and then the headlight unit itself? " And similar for dipping left and right on too many vehicles!
  15. Are you only considering incandescant replacements? Or also LEDs? Thanks Jonathan
  16. I'd leave it on for a bit. Check that it isn't give a warning of being connected with the polarity reversed, but I doubt that it is: that's the Error Lamp on the CTEK with the exclamation mark next to it I suspect that the Porsche is telling you that it is waking up rather than that the charger is causing any damage. If the battery isn't sealed check the levels asap. Jonathan PS: If the battery does need to be charged all of the time I'd check its levels (if possible), its condition, and whether there is excessive "parasitic" drain at rest. The last of those would include asking the appropriate Porsche forum for known problems and getting an autoelectrician to measure what's happening.
  17. Mechanical gauge parts and supplier in this Guide. Jonathan
  18. I'd try Redline for the sender first. And I don't now how many types there are. Jonathan
  19. My first choice would be LED replacements, and I'd ask in a UK Ford forum. And I would worry about the MoT inspection, but not a lot. But, as above, better halogen lamps can be much better. Jonathan PS: There was an independent supplier whose advice and products used to be recommended in these parts... Classic Car LEDs... https://www.classiccarleds.co.uk/search?q=mondeo
  20. Thanks for the update. The UK agent for CTEK was very helpful with my faulty charger. I thought that they had agreed to test it, which would have been interesting, but instead they replaced it. Jonathan PS: We tried to negotiate a Club discount but without success.
