  1. You can now design your own Kånken. Happy New Year Jonathan PS: In the days of leaving the house to go to work I used an Antler briefcase that could take the wheel and had hidden backstraps, bought with the advice of BlatChat!
  2. And if anyone's planning any work on the buzzer I recommend considering a gadget that self-cancels... Jonathan
  3. "BUT no indicators or hazards???????? - Flasher relay ??? Any suggestions/advice. Tried the wiring/working the switches - no luck." As above. It's common for older flasher units not to work or to flash slowly when incandescant lamps are replaced with LEDs. It happens because the load on the unit is lower. Here's JAL's replacement unit, and they're available from many other sources. Jonathan
  4. It's here, with some requests for details and some suggested diagnostic tests. Jonathan
  5. I don't think that they all do! And I didn't find anything in the archives. Jonathan
  6. "When fitting the new rad, check how it presents to the 4 bobbins. Mine needed some washers adding to stop the rad being pulled to the shape of the chassis brackets!" Wise words. I'm pretty convinced that some of the problems with leaks from aluminium radiators have been caused by stress from the mounting. Avoiding that might include opening up holes in or bending the chassis brackets and packing with washers. The radiator shouldn't be hauled into position by the bolts. Jonathan
  7. "There's a much stronger DIY reinforcement solution described in the archives." Brackets to pass the load directly into the chassis tubes rather than via the floor. Jonathan
  8. I can't remember it being discussed... I'll have a look. If you've had two with the same problem I'd check the electrics, and is it possible that there's something about the fitting that's causing both to bind? (I can't remember how easy they are to fit... did you do the replacement yourself?) Happy Christmas Jonathan
  9. Are you describing two different issues? The network problem, as discussed in this thread. Finding a post in a thread that isn't in the pull-down menu. Thanks Jonathan
  10. Well done. So is "TE MQS" a different family from "TE Multilock 040"? Jonathan
  11. Private Message sent. Jonathan
  12. I haven't seen any new information appear. This is John's photo: Speedo%20plug_with%20arrow_1.jpgSpeedo%20plug_with%20arrow_1.jpg Could that be the same that VDO use: https://vdo-webshop.nl/en/connectors/739-vdo-viewline-connector-set-8-pin-7640178728493.html 8-pin MQS Connector with contactsManufacturer: Hirschmann of Tyco? Happy Christmas Jonathan
  13. "I just asked caterham if they do an LED kit if you have the spare carrier." The answer was "No" in June. Some discussion of a possible fix in that thread. But I'm always in favour of checking. : - ) Happy Christmas Jonathan
  14. "Weird that I couldn’t find it.." Does this post explain why you couldn't find it, or is there another problem? Thanks Jonathan
  15. Edited: Crossed post. Yes, sounds like the accessory power feed and side-light switched feed (used for instrument illumination etc) and an earth. Jonathan NB: That was shown as Purple/ Green in some diagrams.
  16. What colour are the wires, please? Happy Christmas Jonathan
  17. Are all of the rivets still secure, especially in the area that has warped? If so I'd be happy to fit the bars. Jonathan PS: There's a much stronger DIY reinforcement solution described in the archives.
  18. "Also the traditional battery charger definitely had more impact than the Optimate!" Yes. There are lots of reports of small AGM batteries being restored to useful function in that way, or by jumping and charging off the alternator. Jonathan
  19. That drop over the first few days is more than I'd expect for any car battery in good nick. ... But to test whether a battery is safe to use in a car I'd use its output under load. And the most convenient way of measuring that without specialist equipment is the minimum voltage seen during cranking. Apart from more being better there are some components on some Sevens that won't work properly at < 10.5 V. This is one of the reasons for failed or poor starting even when the battery will turn the engine over at a reasonable speed. So I'd suggest measuring that minimum voltage with each battery. ... I also suggest that everyone measures that periodically as an early marker of deterioration. ... Happy Christmas Jonathan
  20. Prices: https://fasttracktours.co.uk/booking/fours-sixes-sevens/#tab03 Happy Christmas Jonathan
  21. Thanks for the details. Can I help with serving the video... and did you sketch the new wiring layout? Happy Christmas Jonathan
  22. Do you have a multimeter? Recommendations available. And a wiring diagram... let me know if you need a copy. 1 Remove bulb from fog lamp. 2 Set the multimeter to 15 V DC range or similar. Put one lead on a good earth. 3 With the other lead measure the voltage at each terminal of the main light switch with the switch in each of its three positions, and tell us what you see. Happy Christmas Jonathan
  23. If you get stuck on the connectors please post a photo. Jonathan
