  1. Usual advice: consider including a couple of USB charging sockets. Jonathan
  2. You can sometimes get a good look with a smart ‘phone’s camera and screen. And I’d definitely identify and fix the problem before changing the lamp unit. Jonathan
  3. The high beam flasher might use a different fuse from the main light switch. Jonathan
  4. IIRC it switches the live feed. And uses the common earth near the lamp unit. Jonathan
  5. Sorry, on a small screen. There’s a very recent thread with my suggested diagnostic pathway, which includes measuring voltage at the main light switch. Pls can someone add a link. Layout of fuses and relays is in the Owner’s Handbook. But beware variations. Map your own to be certain: it will save time. Jonathan
  6. I’m on a ‘phone so pls pardon brevity. Yes, check plunger action. You can open the standard switch and try to improve the contact, but there’s a spring just waiting to make a bid for freedom. Do it in a box. But there’s a much better switch available: lots of references in the archives. Jonathan
  7. Ah yes, I remember it well. From the Tool Tube Bulk Buy. Thanks for all the work Jonathan
  8. There's a lot of experience and advice in the Seven Insurance thread: Jonathan
  9. Well done, and thanks for adding the answer. I was running out of ideas, as you could tell. Jonathan
  10. Thanks Have you checked the "side lights" fuse? Jonathan
  11. Thanks If *you can post that here we can then work out why there's no feed to the main light switch. Jonathan * Or I! : - )
  12. Thanks. That narrows it down. How are you identifying the fuses and relays? There are several different layouts... Jonathan
  13. We hang ours on a line tied to a tree. Jonathan
  14. I use it all the time, but I'd like some improvements. Have you found the filters on https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/discover/unread/ ... Read Status and Time Period? Jonathan
  15. Assuming that you now have the original headlamp reconnected: 1 Set the multimeter to 15 V DC or similar. 2 Measure the voltage across the battery. 3 Release the light switch. Identify the terminals from the wiring colours. With one probe on a good earth throughout measure the voltage at each terminal with the switch in each position: OFF, SIDE, HEAD. Let us know the results. Jonathan
  16. Thanks The server's now up, but I can't find the article... was it a GTKY7? Jonathan
  17. There's a vast amount of advice in the archives, including tools: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:caterhamlotus7.club+front+wheel+bearing And a Low Flying article, but that server seems to be down. Jonathan
  18. I suggest completely disconnecting the new lamp unit. And then testing all of those again and letting us know the result. Jonathan
  19. Please send me a Private Message with your email address. Jonathan
  20. Do you have the appropriate Seven wiring diagram and a multimeter? Have you disconnected the LH lamp? Please add a photo of the old wires connected to the new unit. Jonathan
  21. Always interesting to hear about how others approach this. For us it's mostly about cycling and walking rather than the Seven, but a couple of thoughts on reading the posts so far: There can be a lot of sitting around when camping and many of us value having a chair with back support. The chair kit for our mattresses is just some straps and thin rods and produces something like the photo below. If you use a stove powered by alcohol rather by gas the fuel bottle of last resort can be used by both the stove and the campers. Jonathan
  22. Does it have to all fit in the boot... it's easy to increase capacity with dry bags strapped on top. Is there any space in the passenger footwell? We cycle with all of that kit and cooking gear: two panniers and a bar bag each, and the tent on top of one rack and the mats on the other. So it might just be possible. Mats: Do you want full length? And do you want them to also work as chairs? We use Therm-a Rest full length. Tent: Robert Saunders Base-Packer 2 twin porch... more than forty years old... Jack, handle, tools and spares can all go in the engine bay. Jonathan
