  1. That should be a black wire from the loom to the multi-way connector near the lamp unit. But I don’t know where the other end connects to the body/chassis. Might be at the front of the transmission tunnel. if you suspect a bad earth then this is the type of fault where checking continuity is NOT enough. You need to measure resistance or test with a temporary wire to a known good earth. Jonathan
  2. Yes, this will localise the fault: no feed to the switch, fault in the switch, fault downstream of switch (including relay)… Jonathan
  3. Have you checked the voltage at the main light switch, as in the linked thread? Jonathan
  4. Usual advice: consider including a couple of USB charging sockets. Jonathan
  5. You can sometimes get a good look with a smart ‘phone’s camera and screen. And I’d definitely identify and fix the problem before changing the lamp unit. Jonathan
  6. The high beam flasher might use a different fuse from the main light switch. Jonathan
  7. IIRC it switches the live feed. And uses the common earth near the lamp unit. Jonathan
  8. Sorry, on a small screen. There’s a very recent thread with my suggested diagnostic pathway, which includes measuring voltage at the main light switch. Pls can someone add a link. Layout of fuses and relays is in the Owner’s Handbook. But beware variations. Map your own to be certain: it will save time. Jonathan
  9. I’m on a ‘phone so pls pardon brevity. Yes, check plunger action. You can open the standard switch and try to improve the contact, but there’s a spring just waiting to make a bid for freedom. Do it in a box. But there’s a much better switch available: lots of references in the archives. Jonathan
  10. Ah yes, I remember it well. From the Tool Tube Bulk Buy. Thanks for all the work Jonathan
  11. There's a lot of experience and advice in the Seven Insurance thread: Jonathan
  12. Well done, and thanks for adding the answer. I was running out of ideas, as you could tell. Jonathan
  13. Thanks Have you checked the "side lights" fuse? Jonathan
  14. Thanks If *you can post that here we can then work out why there's no feed to the main light switch. Jonathan * Or I! : - )
  15. Thanks. That narrows it down. How are you identifying the fuses and relays? There are several different layouts... Jonathan
  16. We hang ours on a line tied to a tree. Jonathan
  17. I use it all the time, but I'd like some improvements. Have you found the filters on https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/discover/unread/ ... Read Status and Time Period? Jonathan
  18. Assuming that you now have the original headlamp reconnected: 1 Set the multimeter to 15 V DC or similar. 2 Measure the voltage across the battery. 3 Release the light switch. Identify the terminals from the wiring colours. With one probe on a good earth throughout measure the voltage at each terminal with the switch in each position: OFF, SIDE, HEAD. Let us know the results. Jonathan
  19. Thanks The server's now up, but I can't find the article... was it a GTKY7? Jonathan
  20. There's a vast amount of advice in the archives, including tools: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:caterhamlotus7.club+front+wheel+bearing And a Low Flying article, but that server seems to be down. Jonathan
  21. I suggest completely disconnecting the new lamp unit. And then testing all of those again and letting us know the result. Jonathan
  22. Please send me a Private Message with your email address. Jonathan
