  3. Hi all. No results as yet but the insulation to my starter solenoid cables started to melt so I have wrapped primaries using grey bandage from Demon Tweaks - needed most of 2 rolls of 50mm, and damping it with a small spray water bottle made it much more flexible around the bends! I also used insulated reflective sleeving for cables, and routed them under the solenoid initiallyas far from primaries as poss. Tip given to me was to leave a gap of about 25mm between the top manifold flanges and the start of the tape. I intended to try to wrap them in situ (silly idea in retrospect) but ended up taking primaries out to replace starter motor. Apart from having to use a variety of sockets and spanners and extensions etc., to get at nuts (and one stud came out as well) much easier to wrap individually. Found it easier to temporarily tie start with a cable tie at bottom end then replace with a metal strap band. Finish at manifold end. Initial start up was veeeeeeerrrrrrryyyyyy smoky - so outside recommended!!!!!!!!!!! Agree that gases will reach silencer hotter, but will have to wait for longer term results.
  4. Good to see you out and about Great day for a blat White with grey stripe R300.
  5. Hi there - white R300 with grey stripe What a great day for a blat Tried the Pistonheads recommended B2110 from E Grinstead to Crawley and back via Turners Hill Better east to west I thought although nearly caught out by water on descent to 90 right before railway arch! Hope you enjoyed your blat
  6. Hi yes - semi permanent hols as now retired don't bring 7 as when we do drive we bring UK items to stock up so lots of room needed usual story of course - some great roads in France, great roads once you get to the Pyrenees, but long way down and Mrs is not a fan of 7 for long distances once you get here too many park by feel drivers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - just look at their cars Regards
  7. LHD silver Roadsport SV parked near beach envious as my 7 is at home in the garage tucked up away from the rain but at least here is 25 deg and sun sun sea and ????????????????????????? seven would be great
  8. Often the bezel that holds the glass unit in place - in which case blu tack works well but may take several attempts

  12. MOT passed and then the sun came out! The new sensor has done the trick Engine now much smoother although I still think it could be improved as still a little rich Thanks to fellow Blatchatters and big thanks to Rob at Boss Racing (awesome red racing TVR) and Andy B at Tech 7. Tally Ho
  13. Evening all ECU etc tested on lap top by Rob (Boss Racing) this am. Throttle potentiometer ok (looked like a reading of 0.43 - which I seem to recall mentioned previously. Temp sender ok although dashboard gauge reading 20 deg lower than water. Lambda sensor failed to react at tickover - temp replacement did ok New Lambda bought from auto factor (Rover part MHK 10006 - has square ended connector) apparently Dartford parts say could be square or flat with rounded ends (guess which one I bought first). Fitting should be easy. Advice from Rob is sensor should be just ahead of Cat so it picks up all four pipes rather than just in rear down pipe. Having tried to remove old (dud) sensor am tempted to leave and just cut off wires - perhaps that is how the two sensor look started! Rob also adjusted the roller barrels to synchronise fully - only a little out. Time (and an emissions test) will tell if successful. Tally ho
  14. Yes - moved to DA3 7BE industrial estate access off end of road to Brands paddock back entrance 01474 702 892 Thanks
  15. Good morning all Thanks for the recent advice On recommendation of Andy B (Tech 7) I spoke to Rob Singleton of Boss Racing (nr Brands Hatch) formerly with Caterham. Over the phone he said probably roller barrels out of adjustment. Apparently Caterham struggled big time with roller barrels to get the emissions down to MOT acceptable standards. Will be taking mine in on Monday to (hopefully) sort. Will let you know. Had a look at exhaust manifold last night. No signs of leak but looks real ******* to get at rear nuts. Only have one Lamda sensor on rear downpipe. There is a plugged hole on the pipe.
