  1. another vote for the longacre 0-30, found mine at the autosport show great value - in terms of cost v frequency of use & quality jerry
  2. bob would be surprised if the gauge on your pump is vaugely accurate (the one on mine overreads moderately consistently which is ok for the push bike but nothing else) my longacre 30psi damped gauge (0.5 increments) is my most used tool for sprints/racing jerry
  3. tony caterham sell a 4-2-1 collector which is a straight swap for the cat on K-series (at least for my SLR)- cheaper than commisioning a custom pipe and easy to swap back should you need to jerry
  4. jonathan yes, i've replaced mine after 2 caps failed in short order see you at longcross sat and i'll get the bonnet off 😬 jerry

    ACB10,s

sorry paul, should have guessed they weren't yours pretty sure the 8/22 will fit as the westfield boys we used to race changed from 7 to 8's at the front ❗ to try and reduce the understeer with their monster Vx motor jerry

    ACB10,s

paul i have 7.0/21-13 fitted on my fronts (SLR split rims- not sure of the rim width) i've found the guys at BMTR helpful with fitting advice- you also need to check compound for ACB10: standard- road and track work medium- will do a whole endurance race w/e (testing, qualifying and 3 hours racing) soft- sprint use they are on 0121 331 1122 and ask for the race tyres dept. i've always had very prompt delivery jerry
  7. paul looks like lots of upgrades going on did you get my e-mail follow up on wings 🤔 didn't hear so assumed all ok jerry
  8. adam myles is correct, the ACES lights have 2 max rpm recordings- "Smart Max" which is your driven max and an absolute max which is the "wrong slot" recording (the best/worst 😬 i've heard of is 13,250 *eek* on a K with steel crank without it letting go ❗) i have mine set fairly conservatively for an SLR so even with race/sprint use it's never seen 8,000 trust your IoM trip was good jerry
  9. pierre rubber washer but with a waist so it stays in the sheet metal and cushions both sides- lubricate when fitting so you're not tempted to overdrill jerry
  10. as stated above- limiter is there to stop any damage but can't stop you wrong slotting aces shift lights are visible & adjustable so you can be kind to your engine they also record max revs so you'll know if you've buzzed it jerry
  11. elie i use rubber grommets in the alloy when bolting it to rivnuts: stops rattles, cracks and looks ok with hemispherical head hex drive bolts jerry
  12. caroline brian james will do a free trailer safety check if you're up there having something done- very efficient i parked the trailer there, rode the 916 upto donny, did a track day, came back and all parts fitted and safety check done without asking know it's a bit of a trek up but just find an excuse to be that way 😬 jerry

    R400 Wheels

james before you send them all back- you could see if they'll send you 4 rears (with a price adjustment for the inconvenience) then you'll have 2 sets of 13's which you'll need if you're heading to the track with an R400 100 track miles on soft 048's and they'll be looking very used 😬 look on it as a necessary upgrade jerry
  14. the bracket / waterrail weld cracking and leaking is a recognised fault (but only if someone tells you ) there is a new design water rail with different bracket jerry
  15. david king for a week 😬 peter yamaha were using 5-valve heads on bikes 20 years ago ostensibly for the valve area/circumference equation i assume they've disappeared for cost reasons (manufacture/service) 🤔 jerry
  16. robmar although a L7 club member I'm not entered in the club speed championship- car has been used more for endurance racing- still had about 45 litres of fuel in the big tank which must of helped with rear grip we had a good day out, although like most Longcross in the wet focuses the mind. James probably pulled his engine apart when he saw the five day forecast 😬 glad Mark's ok, as we get older realise the car can always be fixed, unlike us,although David and I do our best 😬 look forward to seeing you at the scorpion jerry
  17. gtd i'm slightly confused: as peter says the crank position sender (which is a standard metro part £10) is triggered by the teeth on the periphery of the flywheel, not the raised lugs on the face can't quite see how the crank needs replacing for this: however i'm sure oily knows much more about it than i do if you're in dire need of a flywheel i've got my old '99SLR one somewhere in the garage jerry
  18. speedo drive can disconnect itself from the speedo itself so have a look under the dash first jerry
  19. if you drill the heads of the bolts 'til they just fall off the the plate can be removed and should leave enough bolt proud to fit a stud extractor (cam type gripping rather than the screw in type) (or small mole grips if you're feeling lucky) jerry
  20. graham as i understand it the verniers allow the cam to be positioned where it ought to be, which can be variable from the factory after my engine was rebuilt by QED( *thumbup*for price and turn round time) the engine was run in and re-mapped. the man running the lap top/strobe/knock/lambda sensors said the cam timing was very good and verniers wouldn't gain me anything so i guess the answer is it depends on how your engine has been put together, but i'm sure someone who really knows will be along soon jerry must type faster Edited by - jerrypike on 3 Apr 2006 11:41:39
  21. chris, if the plates oil tight and you just want to change the oil then you could leave it and drain via the filter and the main flexible oil hose at the front of the sump-saves the concern of stripping the threads in the alloy the original caterham fitting is allen bolts, not torx jerry
  22. roger have made 2 indi seats for caterhams- we both used the medium bag and still had to cut bits off, but neither needed 5" behind to bulkhead. i'm 5'11" 12stone, david's a little larger (apologies if you read this before your ski trip 😬) but both wanted to be below the SLR cage the instructions are pretty comprehensive but best as a 2 person job. definitely need covering after finishing- i used black fireproof cloth with spray adhesive. it's lasted 2 seasons racing, with driver changes and is very comfortable (for me- can't comment about the co-drivers) if you want someone to make it for you i know clive at arylium motorsport made one for austin reynolds and it was very professionally finished with a well fitted panel cover, but not cheap i expect one downside if you use it in all weathers is i don't have a drain hole, so the glue isn't stuck in the concavity now don't try doing it in a hurry happy to discuss or show you the seat as i'm just down the M3 jerry
  23. dave is your car an original SLR or VHPD as a result of upgrades? don't think apollo was a standard fitment as bill didn't have one on his personally i had DS on my spec list when i was looking for my SLR- if you break the engine it's a big bill jerry
  24. yes, have used several sets of 8/22 ACB10 rears on my SLR, in the A32 (medium) compound IIRC. don't have 200bhp but no complaints as to balance with 7" fronts jerry
  25. simon i suspect you'll be best off going with a remappable ECU, then you can have 2 maps: one for track use without cat and another for road use with cat i can't say i've driven one but not sure the race map is very road friendly- not if it's any thing like the original on my SLR well mapped motor should also avoid any MOT issues jerry
