my SLR engine is standard spec but was re-mapped with a MoTec ECU on a rolling road (Optimax, 4-2-1 Cat bypass) and made 177 bhp.
Like you i was a bit disappointed at the figure, but the driveability much improved.
however, engine has been very reliable with only oil/filters

the immobiliser on fuel injected blackbirds is very difficult to by-pass (even NU accepted it without additional alarm/immobiliser), hence why the keys are expensive and the transponder has been grafted onto other ignition keys as the engine won't work without. the bikes come with 2 keys: always get them both. if you need one of these then don't bother with one cut from an on-line company

asked mike about the aluminium centres when i took mine in for refurb this winter, he doesn't do them anymore as heavier/no demand

arch bill looks like £2k
the misc parts is going to add up: wings, wheels, nose, rad, front suspension, steering rack, DDtube+ear
be surprised if it doesn't go over £3k ☹️

2 sets ACB 0: crossply slicks 4x 7/20-13 fronts and 4x 8/22-13 rears
all off my race car but plenty of dry track day use available! 1 front has a (superficial)circumferential groove but still usable
£100 all 8, collect camberley surrey

but in early 2007 the blackbird engine went to holeshot racing for 1200 kit which takes it from 140 to 160+bhp (but i haven't seen the dyno run)

alicat is right with the previous ads
it's not gary's car, but bill hailstone has been racing it in the SEMSEC series this and last season. it was road legal but he took the lights off for racing
jerry
where are you going?
noise meters vary and some are less generous than others
if you still have the original SLR can then it must be getting light on packing
mine (2000SLR) was getting borderline for race/sprints so changed to Ammo's big repackable , which has solved the noise concerns [but I'm not planning to go to Bedford/Coombe or Goodwood (except for 105dB sprints)]

best bet is custom foam- if you want it to look nice then can be professionally covered: expensive.
option B :(looks better than gaffa tape) I covered my own with fire retardant black cloth. Used spray adhesive and my Mum- who is a very experienced seamstress for cutting the darts

Hi Stuart
like several other posters i've raced/sprint/trackday use with slicks and ACB 10's on 2 sets of MB's without problems
as to your SLR rims- you're probably better keeping these with your SLR as they're no longer available. Mine have my wets on so are very lightly used.
Accept that you'll have many more wheels/tyres than you really need 😬
jerry
for trackday only lap times not important so you can run them as far as you like
certainly run them past all tread over an endurance race w/e (with tyre restrictions) without difficulty

I have my original SLR flywheel (2000) which came off when QED did my rebuild, (so don't need another) let me know if its of use: all teeth and dogs intact
jerry
easiest is the JPE style aero which can be fitted to 5 top loading rivnuts
caterham midlands will do this for you and made a very nice job of mine, including the captive nuts for re-fitting the screen
4 allen bolts+2 bullet connectors(screen heater) to remove screen, 5 allen bolts down into scuttle-JPE on without groping under the scuttle
i leave my mirrors attached to the scuttle (rivnuts again)

car helmets generally slightly heavier and more restrictive field of view
no reason to change if you are using it on road, but some bike helmets won't pass MSA for sprints/racing (Arai RX7RR for example)
personally i enjoy not wearing a helmet with aero but good eye protection is a must

even the race mechanic who does all the work on my car shipped the diff. for its rebuild / ratio change.
but let us know how it goes 😬
how many spanners in the haynes manual
🤔
jerry
how old are they?
if worn the rear end "clonks"
if the suspensions stripped i'd be inclined to replace- remember how many threads engaged unless someone is changing the set-up for you

yes coombe may well be different, they are pretty harsh- only just got on a bike track day there at 105dB with my standard 916 (original low mileage cans), bill failed with a quiet yoshi RS3 can on his R1 and david with his 900SL with loud renegade pipes was well over ☹️
have to say big raceco can has made my SLR much quieter, so should do the same for blackbird (which is very quiet as a road bike )
