  1. Andy Do Zytec have a website? James
  2. Many thanks for the replies. I will do a bit more homework on this! Alex is your engine using a standard wet sump? Was this the cause of your engine probs? James
  3. I will be getting 3d mapped ignition for my 16v vx soon. Has anyone fitted the Weber Alpha system? What other systems are worth looking at? Thanks in advance James

  5. Some of these bulbs are not recommended for high mileage use.(due to heat I guess). I am still on the same set in my tin-top after 2 years. Very low mileage use. Are the BMW lights not Xenon already? James
  6. Sounds like it may be the accelarator pump on the carbs not pumping fuel. If you remove the air filters and pump the throttle you should see fuel pumped out from the middle of the carbs. (assuming the float chambers are full). Each choke should do this. This could be the jets blocked. It may also be the float stuck on one carb. It could also be ignition related but less likely.(ht leads etc) Good luck James
  7. It was sold the day after the ad. Sadly I missed it. James
  8. Peter What difference does the rear radius arm position make? Is it noticable for road use or is it more suited to tracks? On my 7 the lower position has no thread. What is required by way of washers etc to move this. Does the inner panel have to be removed to drill a larger hole? I assume the ali panel would just wear away leaving a loose bolt. Thanks in advance James
  9. Chris Hows the engine coming along? Is it nearly ready? I saw that you want an Emerald system for your car! What mods have you made?
  10. Chris Just the usual cleaning job to be done. I am the sort of sad git who spends hours polishing the underneath of my car so it is as shiny as the top! Beats going down the pub! James
  11. Chris my roll bar is an FIA bar which means the rear shocks etc have to come out. I was hoping to avoid this as I only fitted it all a little while ago. Many thanks I will give it a go at the weekend. James

    Wheel bearings

The rear wheel bearings and grease seals on my 7 (96 de-dion) are from a petrol engined sierra. From memory they are all the same other than the diesels. Your local Ford dealer should stock them if not your local motor factors. James
  13. I would be interested in 4 032r or 4 021r depending on prices. Size is 185/60/14 James

    Weber 40 DCOE

AMMO If you want to sell your 45's I could do with some. (If Chris does not have them) James james.seven@virgin.net 07973 162353
  15. Is it possible to remove the fuel tank from underneath? I did not want to remove the roll bar (I only fitted it a few weeks ago). Car is a '96 de-dion with carbs. Thanks in advance James
  16. I would be after 5 6x14 for a de-dion. Do you know roughly how much these would be? Are different wheel nuts needed for these wheels? The only problem is whether to have the black or chrome! James
  17. I have got plenty of noise from carbs and exhaust if needed! Because it is a VX it will be slightly more expensive but definately worth the extra! MC if you buy enough it may be quiet enough for Goodwood! James
  18. Are the carbs still for sale? If so what area are you in? James
  19. If the 2.2 vx engine is easily modified will it be the new k-series?
  20. Andy I believe it is a similar design to the current Ecotec range which Vauxhall use (other than being ali). SBD is not very keen on tuning the 2.0 Ecotec but they reckon the 1.6 works very well. They claim 230 or 235 bhp (from memory). Swindon do a variety of tuning mods for the 2.0. Not sure of the results. Does anyone know if Swindon have a website? Hopefully the 2.2 could be the new xe! Lots of power and grunt(not that you need it I am just lazy!) James wink.gif
  21. Scales would be better(and a lot more expensive!) but reasonable results can be achieved with a corner weight gauge. If it is the type I have used it may not work with all types of wheels. The 400lbs one should be sufficient. James
  22. Alan All you need for an MOT test is a foglight and a correctly illuminating switch. You do not need a reverse light (you may for sva test). James
  23. The centre console comes out easily enough. If you have the centre handbrake it is easier to de-adjust the cable or disconnect it.Remove the gearknob. The centre then just lifts out. James
