  1. The large rear one goes to the sump. The smallest one can be blanked off. The other one should go to a catch tank. If you have the rocker cover off it is worth modifying the inner breather plate. James

    Tacho

Stewart My tacho did the same but it has improved a bit since fitting a DTA ignition system. Its still not the best but I find that I never have time to look at it. I will be wiring up a shift light soon which should be a lot more useful. James
  7. Another method which takes a while.... Leave the brake pedal pressed down overnight with the reservoir cap off. This normally works a treat. James
  8. I drove a Vauxhall Vectra with traction control and ABS a few days ago. It felt awful! It seemed as if I had no control over it at all. Obviously this is different as it is front wheel drive but I would imagine it would be worse in a rear wheel drive car ie mid corner etc. It made me realise how glad I was that I disconnected the ABS in my tin top. James
  9. Speedo wanted. It is the Caterham branded type from a '96 car. Thanks in advance James
  10. V7 Is it going to be an R500 or maybe a VX wink.gif James
  11. Julian My vx has an oil temp/pressure gauge. It is made by racetech. The pressure pipe screws into the block instead of the sender unit. The temp take off screws into a remote filter assy. It should be possible to get a connector to fit elsewhere. Demon Tweeks sell racetech gauges. James
  12. Arnie If you find out please could you let me know. Thanks in advance James
  13. Jim 74nm is approx 55lb/ft James
  14. For an MOT test the car must have at least two mirrors. One of these must be the drivers side one. James
  15. Nick The expansion tank on my 2.0 vx (carbs) is sited under the nosecone. The bottle is from a Rover 214 etc. It is mounted on two metal brackets which are part of the chassis. Places like Demon Tweeks sell the alloy expansion tanks. If you want any more info let me know. It may be worth talking to SBD as they do quite a few mods for the 1.6 James Edited by - James on 5 Mar 2001 22:10:49
  16. The discs on my 7 (standard brakes) are bolted to the front hubs and rear hubs which are ford pcd. The discs do not hold the wheel studs. James
  17. Pierre I have sent you a picture of my 7 after I removed the arches. James
  18. Rear calipers are off a Sierra or Granada. The rear discs are not Ford type. I think they are off a Triumph. Most decent motor factors should be able to match one up. James
  19. Arnie I know what they are for! I wondered how you used a paper copy of one. Stick it to the pulley etc Is it accurate enough this way? If I had known I would have dropped one off on Monday. James
  20. Mine is calibrated in tads! Imperial obviously!
  21. Should camber and castor not be measured with a camber/castor gauge? Maybe this is a silly question! Does anyone know what the settings range from/to? James
  22. Arnie How do you use a cam protractor? James
  23. Peter I did the same to my 7 a couple of years ago.(My 7 is a 1996) The cycle wings rub on the side panels on full lock. I cured this by fitting wide track front suspension. My rack is the standard issue. The worst bit is the holes left in the side panels. I fitted a series of stainless mushroom head allen key type bolts to fill them. The larger holes I used the same bolt with a blob of silicone to hold them in. My car is ali so it does not stand out to much. Not sure of a nice way if yours is painted. If you find a nicer alternative let me know! I have modified the cycle wing stays and head lamp brackets so that I can change between the two in about 10 minutes. Also you will probably find some scratches on the side where the wings were. I managed to polish these out. Good luck James
  24. Rob Are you still looking for some cams? If so I have a pair with verniers (Kent) Let me know and I will check which ones they are. James
  25. What is the difference between these systems from an ignition only point of view? How does one system differ from another ie 3d mapping? Roger how was the weber alpha? The reason for looking at the weber system was the minimal wiring. Not through lazyness but I like the old look of my 7 and did not want a lot of extra wiring to clutter things under the bonnet. Also I was hoping to hide the ecu box somewhere under the dash or under the heater area if poss. Thanks James
