  4. Thank Nick The repair worked a treat and I even had a bit of fun on the coastal road 😬 Thank very much for everything, *thumbup* http://www.blatchat.com/T.asp?id=104332 Next time I down in Dorset, the beers will be on me Cheers Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  5. Hi Nick Thank you very much for your answer. The pipe from which the leaks come from is the non-braided which looks like the return pipe I do not know if this pipe is pressurised when the engine is running or not. I'm scared of turning the engine back on for some obvious reasons I will check my oil level tomorrow morning to see if I can drive to you. I would be great if I could pop round to yours Saturday 15, if it's convenient for you. If not, I will need to get some from Axminster or Bridport My number is 07801701773. Thanks again Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  6. Hello On my way down this morning to see my family in Dorset, I manage to hit a stone. I have now a leak where the lower pipe and the engine connect. The leak will probably empty the engine of all oil within a few hours I don’t know if the stone fractured something or just dislodged the pipe. I cannot leave the car at my uncle’s. This is why, I need to be able to drive it back on Sunday. Is there someone with a jack who could help me in further inspecting of damages? And maybe in some kind of repairs? I’m in Charmouth near Lyme Regis The car is a 21 with a dry sumped VVC Thanks for your replies. Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21 Edited by - jackb_ms on 14 Apr 2006 14:48:14
  7. It's the answer I got from my query to VOSA. The best bet is to give them a ring and ask. I have passed the information to the MOT station, and they tested it accordingly. all the info is on there website http://www.vosa.gov.uk/ Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  8. I can forward the e-mail if you blat mail me I went to the VOSA website and send an e-mail to Enquiries@vosa.gov.uk This was the answer I received Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  9. It passed 😬 I have received this e-mail from VOSA: "The In Service Exhaust Emission Standards For Road Vehicles Eleventh Edition states for Caterham cars "Where the 10th digit of the VIN is equal to or less than'V' and the 6th digit is 'C' or 'K' the vehicle concerned should be considered as 'amateur build' and as such should receive a visual smoke test only" Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  10. Hi I had a look underneath the car on Saturday and the head of the 4 bolts holding the plate up are completely worn out. There enough of a head to remove them, and obviously I will need to replace them. I have the special plate made by Hellier Performance http://www.hellierperformance.com/17401.html to replace the existing one. Do someone knows the dimension and type of thread ( metric, imperial) of those bolts? Thank for your help Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  11. Bruce Call the VOSA with your VIN number and they will be able to tell you Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  12. Called VOSA and they told me it should be visible test only 😬 So I'm booking test with local MOT station and it should be ok Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  13. Hi Mav Which 21 was it? I had a look on the V5C document and it says: Kit build/converted - Assembled from parts all of which may not be new And there is no value for the exhaust emissions or for sound level. I have compare it the the V5C of our Honda which state what the exhaust emission and sound level should be. Does it mean my 21 just need a visible smoke test only? Does anyone knows a friendly MOT station around Oxford? Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  14. For comparaison I have bought some tb from an Exige, including, injectors, injectors rail, air box and air filter for £250. Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  15. cheers for the info I was measuring 118dB© at 4500 rpm with the meter placed at about 1/2 metres from the exhaust. Which I thought was a bit too loud, compare too Mr Davep's 21 which I know is louder I'll have an other go and see what it does Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21

    Sound checks

Hi I bought an noise metre to check how loud was my car. Before I want to make realistic test, I would like to know what is thestatic test procedure , RPM, distance from rear of car, for tracks days. thanks for your help Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  17. Oily, I'm looking to have a air box for my 21, and I would like to use the current air filter setup. I have the TB from an Exige. Could you have one modified to fit? What would be my alternative? Thanks for your help Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21

  21. What a bout fitting a VVC? 160bhp as standard and no problem for next power upgrade with all the kit available. Cost of engine less than £1000. Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  22. I'm having a Glenmorangie and listening to some good old Judas Priest 😬 Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  23. To add a bit more... I'm going to keep the VVC an fit some direct to head TB, with an emerald I should get around the 200bhp mark. The Emerald and rolling road session would be about £1K The TBs are from the Exige Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  24. Dave I had a similar problem last summer and it was the plug at the back of ecu which was getting loose. check your fuel pump by using connecting directly the pump to 12V. If you can hear it it's a problem with the power going to it. There is a gentleman who did a very good website regarding the wiring of the VVC. Try a search in the archives. If I could sort it with my dodgy eyes, I'm sure you can 😬 Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
  25. What about a gauge which takes a very very long time to indicate there is something in the tank? Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
