  3. Very good Steve, I could change my name to Quentin, in the meantime this is the wrong place for this discussion so perhaps we should let Matthew get on and sell his registration. Mind you we have kept it up the top. Guy. P.S. I think £750 is too cheap for A7 DUO!!!!!!!!!! 😬

    TYRE SIZES

Did a search in the archives under “tyres” and spent the WHOLE day reading threads on the subject, but it has answered most of my questions. I have recently bought a 1700XF S/Sprint which has 15” x 6½” Prisoner wheels and 195.50.15 Michelin Pilots. Completed in 1995 done 5000 miles and been in a garage for the last 5 years. The tyres are like new and boy are they hard, hence the “skittish” handling I suppose. So the tyres have got to go, I will not be racing or doing tack days so I have decided (I think) to fit Yokohama A539’s, my question is should I fit 195.50.15’s or 205.50.15’s? and at what pressure (for road use) should they be run at and for the time being, what pressure should I put in the old Michelin’s ( I know, enough to blow them apart). As you can probably tell I am new to all this and this is my first 7, so any help would be appreciated, must try and get to the Hants. (North) & Berks meeting at the end of the month. Guy
  11. Thanks to all of you for your help, had the flange checked and its perfect so I rang Roger King to order a set of copper gaskets and guess what, he has run out. Good news is he should have them in again in a couple of week's time, so I am going to leave the car in the garage until I can get a set. Hope the weather is c++p for the next 2 weeks! Guy Lowe
  12. Can anybody let me know if they have any experience of the side mirrors marketed by Seven Accessories, good or bad? Thanks Guy Lowe
  13. Thanks Chris I have been looking at the Roger King Ad, they are about twice the price but worth it if they cure the problem. Guy Lowe
  14. I have recently bought a 1700 XF Super Sprint and after only 300 miles the centre exhaust manifold gasket is blowing. The car has a 4-1 exhaust fitted which (looking through the receipts) was supplied by Caterham in November 2001 together with new gaskets (P/No:5043068 + 69). Again looking through the receipts I found a Caterham invoice for another set of the same gaskets dated June 02, the car has only done 800 (ish) miles since the new exhaust was fitted. I have removed the exhaust and both the head and the flanges look okay but the centre gasket has blown at the top between the two ports. The gasket looks like a standard Ford part ( it's oval and does not have a "centre" between No 2 +3 ports). Can anyone tell me if the cause is the wrong gaskets having been fitted for use with the 4-1 and If so which should be used, if not what is the likly cause? One thing I (as a novice) found strange is that the complete exhaust only has one mounting bracket, at the tail pipe by the rear wheel arch is this correct? Thanks Guy Lowe

    Wind Deflectors

I brought mine from Caterham (part No:WD01) and they were already formed/bent at the bottom. They are an improvement but mine tend to flap about a bit at low speeds. Guy Lowe I could always go faster? Edited by - Guy Lowe on 2 Jan 2003 22:32:14
  16. YW Sin Oh ☹️ that's not good news Guy Lowe
  17. YW Sin Before you go to all that trouble, why not conduct a manual pressure test by fiting a pressure gauge directly to block in place of the sender unit. Guy Lowe
  18. YW Sin No you don't need to use any silicon sealant, however I presume the sender unit is the standard ford unit on the 1.7 X Flow with the VDO gauge? 135BHP X Flow
  19. I have the same problem, I just ignore it that's until one day when it dosn't move, then the car will stop! 135BHP X Flow
