  1. Mankee Not sure what it was set at when I bought it (it was 9 years ago) but I changed it anyway and again when I installed the Zetec. Yes the center screw is the adjustment and from memory you screw it clockwise to increase the pressure that the switch closes at and A/C to decrease. Longacre recommend setting it like this: An easy way to adjust the sender is to turn the motor over with the starter-ignition off. The oil pressure will rise slowly. Note the pressure where the light goes out. Adjust as needed and retest. If you try to do this by starting the motor the pressure will rise so fast you may not be able to see the set point. However I set mine with the engine hot & ticking over, I screwed it out until the light came on constant and then gave it a smigin of a turn in. Its now set at just over 2½ bar so it just starts to flicker when the engine is VERY hot and ticking over . Guy Edited by - Guy Lowe on 22 Mar 2013 16:03:31
  2. I bought one from Demon Tweeks in 2004 for my XFlow and I have now fitted it to my Zetec. It is adjustable from 60lbs to 15lbs, the part number on the DT invoice is LON4300 which is a Longacre part number and it looks like THIS. I can no longer find it on the DT web site, they seem to have replaced it with THIS and a Google of LON4300 brings up THIS so I presume that is the latest version of what I have. I have it wired to a red light between te speedo and rev counter, IMO a wise think to have. Guy

  4. Quoting jingars: In 1972 a crack blatting unit was sent to prison by an online car forum for a gingerist crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security internet stockade to the Reading underground. Today, still wanted by the management team, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the ReHab-Team. Well we did arrive in a BLACK VAN with big fat wheels 😬
  5. Sorry John, the spare clip I have is a 2 pin, you need the larger 3 pin. It is the wire spring around the plug for the TPS that John needs, its a standard plug, my Zetec has the same plug on the coil pack if anyone thinks they might have a spare. As Tony say this was not the cause of the problem but fitting a new clip will prevent the plug coming off the TPS as it is very close to the header tank and could possibly be rubbing on it. Guy

    Zetec - Oil

CaterBram Jnr the Zetec in RWD configuration is renowned for high oil temperatures, (I had to fit a cooler for track use), therefore the viscosity rating needs to be higher so the oil will remain thicker at the high temperatures, hence the improvement at the end of your sprint runs. I also use Gulf Competition oil but 10W 40 because I'm a whimp and don't do much cold starting 😬 Edited by - Guy Lowe on 9 Mar 2013 16:13:35

    Zetec - Oil

Is posting THIS TOPIC a compulsory annual event? 😔 Anyhow as stated many times before, according to the God of ZETEC's Peter McEwen, the oil to use in a Black Top ZETEC is 10W 40 Guy
  9. Don't listen to him Chris, it is a very nice 'hat'. I was disappointed that you didn't keep it on when we went in the pub as I am sure the nice young ladies 🥰 on the table next to us would have been very impressed 😬 😬 Guy

  11. Mystery solved, car had been on axle stands prior to me measuring ride height whilst fitting the new mechanical oil temperature gauge. Took the car out this afternoon for a quick blat, measured ride height again when I got back and it's now 75mm, think I will leave it at that
  12. Quoting Tony Whitley: That's enough for you to be able to walk under it and inspect for damage Oi Whitley Bay, your not much taller Quoting Aeroscreens: Now be fair Tony, he did say mm not cm Right no alternator bracket for you Mr Alston It does seem a bit high, I think I raised it to stop the rear tyres rubbing when number one son came on a track day with me (he was 15 stone at the time). Might lower it this afternoon Guy
  13. Mine is 90 mm without anyone in the car. Guy
  14. WARNING The Lifeline padding is designed for racing and should not be used without a helmet as it is very hard . I used the tubular stuff and wound Gaffer tape round and round it, but the smallest I could find was 38mm so I had to cut off a 'slither' from the split (if that makes sense) to get a tight fit on a 32mm cage tube. I also put some double sided tape on the tube to stop the padding rotating. Guy Edited by - Guy Lowe on 5 Feb 2013 08:43:22
  15. I can take the flack Steve, I'll take them please email sent. Cheers Guy
  16. Well at long last the car is finished and it's not raining so out I go with my son holding a Holux, the result is at 80 mph showing on the speedo the Holux reads 78mph, bloody marvellous So after 10 years of over reading it is now fixed, so should I now wind the speedo back 10% (2,900 miles) to show the cars true mileage 😬
  17. Hi Doug Is it the one they sell with the Zetec primaries, the can is 800mm long by 560mm circumference? Where 'on the edge of the Cotswolds' are you? Guy
  18. Craig I shall email you some images of mine, but if your over this way during the week give me a ring as I am about most days. Guy
