IMHO there is only one way to do it. 1. Buy a bench grinder 2. Buy a Sisal Mop https://www.technologysupplies.co.uk/sisal-mop-2-section-6x1-inch.html 3. Buy a bar of Ferrobrite compound https://www.technologysupplies.co.uk/ferrobrite-compound.html Remove the exhaust and primaries and turn this: Into this: Excluding the time to remove and refit the system it takes about an hour to polish, depending on how bad you let it get. This was my short buttress tube failure (No: 25 in the opening post). Replaced with a HD 10 gauge tube P/No: 79016. No problems since and now running 200bhp

Only just seen this, my G/Box casing is very old the type without a cover over the end of the main shaft , certainly pre 88 and after a rebuild it took 1.65 litres This is how I did my cover, but probably a bit late now as you all seem to have succesfuly copied it
