  1. car doing well thanks Daren, currently having some weight unfreindly, but R500 engine friendly bits installed...namely an apollo. Haven't seen you for ages! Getting to any track days this year? Graham
  2. why have you upgraded to the Stack Daren? Graham
  3. twitchy but fine when you get used to it. Graham
  4. if your conversation was like that with Caterham, phone up Andy Noble (sales dir) at the showroom and tell him. He's normally pretty speedy on getting it sorted! Graham
  5. I have always adjusted at the top. You just 'unlock' the two nuts and they are pretty free on the cable. Can be adjusted by hand unless it's corroded in some way. Make sure you don't have too much of the threaded piece sticking through into the pedal box though. This is the cause of cable failures I believe. Graham
  6. how much do you want? Graham
  7. Yo FH, HNY to you too (where's those pics then?) To be fair (why I hear you cry?) the fitting of the cage requires the welding of (heavy) bits to R500 chassis hence the extra time. Anyway go away you lot, I just want someone to reply whose got one to sell to me at a ridiculous low price. Graham
  8. Roy, only if I can get a cage at significantly less than the £800 new price (plus £400 fitting!), yikes! Graham
  9. is the box under warranty? I would take it back. The other adjustment you could make is to only drive it yourself! :-)) Graham
  10. I could be wrong here (what's new they cry), but I think one of the Apollo's main functions is to remove the airy bubbly bits from the oil that are caused by the thrashing in a wet sump. The dry sump does two things - stops the thrashing in the sump and also stops the oil surge of a wet sump where the oil rushes to where the oil pump pickup isn't (IYSWIM).
  11. Yep, good point Peter. Although the Caterham line is that the dry sump only runs out of oil when the level is allowed to drop by not checking and filling well and often enough. So Apollo is only a safety or belt and braces measure (if they are correct in their assertion). Whereas with the wet sump, surge and or other aeration is a matter of course when the K is used on track (or otherwise vigorously). Graham
  12. The R500 fitment is to provide a greater volume of oil rather than extra surge protection. Graham
  13. Race roll cage wanted to fit R500. Contact by email or on 07713 988555 Graham
  14. yep, good point, I knew I had got it wrong! Graham
  15. I was under the impression that a hole drilled in the stat was also used to cure this problem. However, I can't for the life of me work out why, so I must be mistaken, well I think anyway! Graham

    Tyre Choice?

I think I prefer 32's to CR500s (both for all round use and out and out grip) although I have not done a back to back and they were on different sevens (fat use that is I know)! Graham
  17. finally got prices. The bits (titanium side box, connecting pipe, rear box and clips, bobbins etc) are £600 new. Offers around 300. Graham
  18. have you searched the archives as I am sure someone else posted this same question somewhere. Graham

    fuel

I use SUL or Optimax depending on what's available. I could be wrong, but I think OPtimax is the same RON as SUL. Graham
  20. Andrew, why have you taken the drive out of the 6 spd box? If you are worried about it, you can grind the teeth off the cog so it doesn't turn. Makes a great plug for the hole! Graham
  21. nah, proper K series gets about 120 MAX to a tank that's 3 and a bit miles per litre, goes down to 1 when on track! and another thing, what madness is it that makes me measure my petrol in litres and distance in miles? Graham
  22. when I went to Bedford Autdrome last week, there was a sierra cossie turbo, the original kind, hatchback with huge whale tail. every time it changed gear a huge sheet of flame shot out the side exit exhaust! That was ok until I was going by on the straight and yep, you guessed it, gear change! That was a scary moment! No damage tho.
  23. fascinating, I'd love one. How much do you think it'll cost to make and how much effort? Graham
  24. looks a fascinating idea, but what would you use it for? Graham
