  1. I thought that battery charging for lead acid cells was done at constant voltage and certainly nowhere near 16v. But in any case if you are connecting a conditioner after a run to keep the battery tip top till the next run, it will be charged and the activity of the conditioner will be minimal. Graham
  2. ahh taht explains it, I have seen chrome under the black opn the retaining ring and assumed it was the same for the whole lamp unit. Graham
  3. aren't the factory ones just powder coated on top of the chrome anyway? Graham
  4. not sure if there is a tall SLR cage. WHat about bolting the seat to the floor to drop it down a bit? Or get a molded seat. You might be able to get a swap, but I suspect it would be by goodwill rather than by right. You may well have to go for a tall roadsport cage (unless it's an 'R500'chassis in which case it wouldn'f fit). Graham
  5. just out of interest, how much is it for sale for?? Graham
  6. solid lifters too? Graham
  7. there is a fabulous tool for this. It attaches to a compressoran evacuates the cooling system. Open the reservoir valve and woosh, full of coolant! My mate who runs a garage has got one, fab! Graham
  8. how much please? Graham
  9. this kind of thing makes my blood boil. it's a piece of p*ss to get sorted so why can't Caterham do it? You listening Simon?? Graham
  10. why won't Caterham do an SS upgrade to an EU2 1.6k? Is it can't or won't? There's a world of difference from thinking about an ss upgrade to thinking of getting 200bhp via DVA or any other route! I would determine what level you want to go to then look at how to do it. There may well be 2nd hand SS kits around if that's the bhp level you want. You can do the same thing the DVA route of course. Graham
  11. Rob, surely you could fit the Roadsport cage that doesn't need the SLR cage bushes? Graham
  12. Howard, I would put the cat on and get the exhaust analysed by a friendly MOT station in advance to see what levels you get. Graham
  13. Martin, I don't think it's that big a deal. Caterham can weld the bushes in. From memory Simon quoted me a day's labour to fit the cage including welding in the bushes. I think this came to about 1200 sqids. 400 for the labour and 800 for the cage. Could be wrong though as the number was too big for me to contemplate doing at the time!! Graham
  14. I ran a 110 SW (pre-td5) for 6 yrs as the family machine. The problems were that the seats in the 2nd row were not comfy for a growing trio of cherubs and it was actually very slow and very noisy! Fine on journeys to Cornwall, but no way good enough for getting the rabble to the further reaches of France. WIth great sadness we now have a Galaxy as said family transport. Not a LR, but cruises at 95 all day and you can hear the CD player as well! Graham
  15. now I'm confused, I thought that the Station Wagon was the 110 with between 9 and 12 seats?? Not the 90. Graham
  16. Worth double checking Martin as the factory thought my (ex-)R500 of similar age did not have the required bushes! They are not always very good at getting these kind of details correct! Graham

huh PC, you think you are hung up over it. How do you think your car feels?? Have you no empathy man? I have just been out counselling it. We've just got to "winning isn't everything, winning isn't everything, winning isn't everything, winning isn't everything, winning isn't everything" Have a heart for heaven's sake Graham
  18. 2 virtually new Avon 8.5/21/13 (A40 compound) slicks (Suit R500 rear wheels) - only used for 1 quarter mile run by previous owner - David Edmands. Unused and not mounted on wheels by me. Offers. Graham
  19. I reckon it takes about .52 Carmichaels. I have come to the conclusion (having watched and spannered for the master) that any job that needs to be done on a Caterham can actually be completed in a night. This is a new SI unit that I (being the inventor of the unit) now denote as a 'Carmichael'. Graham (apprentice thread-hijhacker).
  20. Yes, yes, yes, just get it out and get rover 4yr or comma coldstream in (undiluted). Graham
  21. I have had a Rover dealer tell me that they couldn't get 4 yr coolant. But I persevered and when he looked in his micro-fiche he could get it. Graham

    how much? Graham
  23. so why is that then? If the R400 map is just simply rubbish and it can be fixed, why don't caterham or whoever is doing it just do it? It maketh no sense to me. Graham
  24. I use CR500s on crossply rear suspension settings (if that makes sense). Run ACB10s on track in the dry and the CR500s on track in the wet. Graham
