  1. Hmm, not bad against about £1400 going Jenveys, Emerald etc. Graham
  2. why are you selling them, I thought you were an R400 race series competitor...have the tyres changed for the series? Graham
  3. fitted to one Mr Nearn's car I understand! Graham
  4. but why on earth go to the expense of getting Caterham roller barrels over other DTHTB's such as Jenvey's? If they are good enough for PC's big engine...?? Graham
  5. BTW I have run at Castle Coombe with said SLR and 7" silencer. So tha twould be the way to go. There are quite a few aftermarket exhausts that would prob work. Graham
  6. Apart from the TB's and if you have aggressive cams you will have an induction noise problem. It sounds like your exhaust can is shagged. I put a 7" superlight R race can on a VHPD and got below 98dB. Only solutionn to the induction noise is an airbox. Graham
  7. BTW is it your pic Mark? Do you have a higher res version of it? Tks Graham
  8. wow, that's got me more emotional than I expected, looks fabulous! How did Gregg get on?? Graham
  9. 9.5" is the Caterham recommended for the R500. But the DS tank is the same (provided you haven't got a very early VHPD DS without the conning tower). Make sure you get the dipstick down to the bottom of the tank past the obstructions in the casting. I am not sure about Nig's proposition that they are all different. I reckon it's more to do with the 'measurers' as its a wretchedly hard thing to measure with any accuracy. Graham
  10. If Peter doesn't have pics to send, I can take some (as I have his car in my gge). I'll get to it tomorrow. Graham Edited by - gridgway on 6 Feb 2003 22:59:15
  11. I got to about 4k in my estimating which includes a standard 2.0l engine on TB's (no cams or headwork). Thought it was quite expensive. Graham
  12. best to make sure you are doing it in the "do-up" direction ie clockwise on the o/s wheel and anti-clock on the n/s wheel. Graham
  13. Unless the battery has run dry or been abused in some other way, such as flattening it and not re-charging it for a period, or your conditioner being faulty, I would say the batt is faulty. At under a year it must be under warranty? IF the conditioner were duff and putting out too high a voltage that would damage the batt but would also cause the cells to dry up. If you check the voltage the condtioner is putting out (maybe when connected to a known good battery) and it's ok then it sounds like the banner. I would expect 3 yrs upwards from a batt that has been looked after. Graham
  14. Count, I will be accumulating bits this summer for next winter's upgrade to my 1600ss. I would be happy to share a M3d purchase to use when you had finished if that makes sense financially. Graham
  15. I haven't used it yet, but I bought some from fsnet last week. Great service. I am planning to make a 'booster seat' to get my 14yr old close enough to the pedals. It'll prob just be an insert between her back and the back of the seat. Graham
  16. yes please I would like a couple. Tks Graham
  17. Hi I am fascinated by the thought of the car. Do you have any pics? Graham

    Oil usage

my SLR would use nothing on the road and then guzzle like crazy on track! They all do that sir! Graham
  19. nah, being not a million miles away from sarf lunden, getting to Nrofolk will be a real pain!!! Graham

    TYRE SIZES

The caterham online parts store has 13 inch ones at £114. I would expect George Polley or BMTR could also give you a price. Graham
  21. I thuught that shorting the wires to each other was exactly what the switch did. Don't short them to the chassis though as I guess one of them will be live. Graham
  22. what a pain, I can get to Brixton quite easily, but Norfolk, argh. That's not even in England is it? Graham

    TYRE SIZES

if you wanted to spend more on tyres, what about the 15" CR500s as fitted to the R300? Graham
  24. easy peasy to get at and change by taking the pedal box lid off. Can be adjusted, but I doubt mended very easily. Prob as easy to fit a new one. If you bridge the wires first, you can check that it's the switch. Graham
