  2. the symptoms are sender no doubt! Change it and see what happens! Actually my advice is to dump the OP guage, what use is it? Mine is so erratic that the only use it has is keeping me amused on the motorway! Graham
  3. The Reverie stuff is nice, but expensive being carbon! The pipework is hard down to the 'scoop' and the scoop is very good at picking up cement (allegedly!). What about a variant of the DVA/Bernard Scouse airbox with a backplate to fit? Graham
  4. well that's not fair Mav, I have standard MC, 1144's on the big brake fronts, standard (Girling?) on the back. I have lots of feel and too much travel for my liking. Graham
  5. that's a good idea, he can swap with mine! I want to try the race mc on mine to see how it works. I rather like the idea of not too much travel. Graham
  6. let's face it Peter, you are a hopeless driver with no competitive spirit who is just sewing the seeds of excuses for not winning the sprint championship! Don't be such a wuss, just brake later. contribution> Graham
  7. loose post first, then relay! I am an expert! Graham

nah, let's have a F.L. V Swarfega contest! I am for swarfega! FL is pants in comparison! Graham
  9. check that there is no air trapped in the top of the rad, that's a common prob. Also you can (carefully) test the fan switch in a kettle as you know that will get to 100 degrees. Graham PS yes it could break!
  10. Since I have had my 1997 k series supersport (about 6 months) the alternator charging light has not illuminated. It charges ok as I have measured the voltage and used it for some long journeys and the battery doesn't go flat. I get a flash of red from the gear change light when i switch on the ignition. Also I thought at one point the ignition light came on when I hit the gear change light point. Now it is the change light that comes on. The ignition light came on on friday, but has stopped again. Anyone know anything about this type of behaviour? Graham
  11. not convinced I agree with theoil level checking instructions on the FAQ for the dry sump. The bit about filling until oil is chucked out is utter tosh and the distance to dip is not what Caterham recommend (they say 9.5 inches). Graham
  12. Also the temp sender may not that that accurate! I had a dodgy stack sender which scared the willies off me! Can be tested in a kettle of course (take appropriate care). Graham
  13. Peter has fitted am 1.8 to replace a 1.4 Graham
  14. so what was wrong with the TurboTechnics supercharger again? Graham
  15. Ian Smith at GRL Motors in Woking can do it. He's not the cheapest, but does good work. Graham Whoops nearly forgot...01483 725759 Edited by - gridgway on 19 Jun 2003 21:44:31
  16. that's a shame, although they were very expensive. Graham
  17. however they won't deal with you re standard caterham stuff, but will do their own or bespoke stuff. Graham
  18. also you can try Ian Smith at GRL motors in Woking 01483 725759. Highly recommended specialist garage that can get anything done or tell you were it can be done locally. NCJAVSC. Graham
  19. Hi Pierre, the cable is just routed down past the gbox/bell housing. Certainly not a problem to take the old one out and route the new one in. Graham
  20. easy to change the cable. You can unscrew the top by hand from the back of the speedo. I do the bottom end by taking the circlip out underneath, removing the right angle assembly (which falls on you at this point) and unscrewing the cable. It may be poss to unscrew the cable with the right angle drive still attached to the gbox. Circlip pliers are needed to take out and replace the circlip. Graham Just in case...make sure that the car is secure on axle stands before getting underneath it!
  21. do you mean 0.5m Jim? If it was at 1m, not surpprised you got a lower reading. How did the fastener get off the aribox and into the works Grim? Graham
  22. Caterham used to do them in at least 2 thicknesses. Far easier to get one from them by post if you don't want to do a DIY job! Graham
  23. Peter, why do you need the immobiliser? Can it be bypassed? Graham

    Speedo broke!

if it's the standard cable one rather than the electric one, then the cable goes from the speed to the right angle drive hung off the gbox. Then there is a short piece of inner cable from the right angle drive into the box. There's no oil probs taking off the assembly from the box. You will need circlip pliers to get it off and bck on again. Bit fiddly but it should be poss to see what's going on. If it's not that type, then I don't have a clue! Graham
  25. oh dear, swapping the 7 for a baby, nuf said! Graham
